Description Although he looks at ease, this harbour seal is actually taking refuge from the pod of killer whales closing on his position.

That is not that safe of a position, killer whales are very smart and will peek above the surface (spyhop) then throw most of their bulk up on land to catch something like the seal that has been spotted. This is probably just the best spot the seal could find in a short amount of time.

only the killer whales of the valdez peninsula in argentina are able to do that - it doesn't appear to be a skill that other populations have learnt. unless you include the ones at seaworld XD This is a fairly safe place to be, only problem is the seal has to go back in the water at some point to find food
