Description (Spring 1780, the last snow from the 'hard winter' of 1779-1780 has finally melted, and those units of the Continental Army that have not yet left Jockey Hollow near Morristown prepare to do so. The sight of blossoms and buds on the trees is probably a balm for many eyes sore from seeing little but snow since their arrival. Soon the Wick family will have their home and farm largely to themselves again...)

Wow! What a trip down Memory Lane! Β I grew up in Chatham, and I can't tell you how many school field trips we made to Washington's Headquarters, Jockey Hollow and the Wick House! Β Thanks for sharing this lovely photo!

Thanks! I was a bit lucky too, high thin clouds can make for better photographs by softening the shadows/reducing the contrast between sunlit and shadowed areas.
