Description I havent made a knife in a long time so im glad i got this finished. The pattern is inspired from a design my father made long time ago.

On the blade is the Midgard serpent carrying a ship and grasping its own tail. On the pommel is a berserker based on Lewis chess pieces - biting its shield and with a sword in its hand.

"According to the Prose Edda, Odin took Loki's three children by Angrboða, the wolf Fenrir, Hel and Jörmungandr, and tossed Jörmungandr into the great ocean that encircles Midgard. The serpent grew so large that he was able to surround the earth and grasp his own tail. As a result, he received the name of the Midgard Serpent or World Serpent. When he lets go, the world will end. Jörmungandr's arch-enemy is the god Thor" Wiki

Blade is razorsharp. Handle is made from a piece of Ironbark i collected from a farm i used to work in Australia. Handle fittings are made from brass and bronze.

It's a very great Piece in total and in special the Midgard Serpent - Jormungand-Motif is of course a good Idea ! - Also to mould the not unfamous Viking Chess Piece Berserker for the Pommel was
another good Idea and to use this Classic - very old - Blade Form for this Piece is good of course as well. - Bruinenn ( see below) is also very excited about this Knife and the Jormungand - Motif.
As a Layman Military Historian and probably real Descendant of Southern (Viking) Saxons ( who were defeated by Charlemagne and his Armies) I must say - WELL DONE !
Kind regards

Thanx, I did sent a mail to Bruinenn. I have to see when he replies, but in general i am too busy until February. I should post the entire chess set as well one day. I finished it two years ago but i havent made a presentable picture series from it jet. As i am very interested in migration period and viking age i cant really help myself when designing my knives

I would be interested in commissioning.  Could you e-mail with a price range for a knife similar to this?  It is the jormungandr motif that is most important.

Many thanks.

If i had the e-mail it would be possible. It would cost about 450 usd with worldwide shipping using courier service.

All the best,

IS this knife for sale?

Nope - most of the knives i have made have been custom commissioned works made keeping the future owner in mind. In case you look for custom commission it would be possible to start a new knife in february or march.

I'm also going to submit this:  I'm putting in the foundry folder, but somehow, I feel it would be better placed in Legendary creatures.  Beautiful forge work.  I'd like to invite you to join  as many of your works reflect an interest in the culture.  Membership will allow you to submit a piece to the folder of your choice, and perhaps, find some stuff you want to add to your faves as well.

Cheers, and best wishes.  I just read your journal.  Looks like you have had quite the adventure in Australia.
