Description My first deviation...

A knife. The blade is made from bΓΆhler u9 steel and is 13 cm long, sharp like devil. Central part is made from bronze. Handle is made out of redwood of unknown species - very hard and shiny. I hope someone likes it and buys it someday, so i can be one step closer to having my dream motorbike.

what was the process on carving the blade out like that?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Ugrik In reply to The-Hoarde [2008-11-13 05:02:03 +0000 UTC]

well - i't involved drilling and cutting with jeweller saws and then lots of careful dremmel use.

Thanx - as you can see the tang goes through the handle so i filled it with epoxy resin and after it had hardened i riveted the end for some extra toughness - although it's not necessary and the epoxy resin should be strong enough on its own.

This knife is not available anymore but you can order similar one from me. Depending on the difficulty of the work and cost of the materials, price may vary but it should be somewhere around 300 dollars.

Falco-sparverius [2006-07-01 22:54:07 +0000 UTC]

Have to favorite this. I just love the negative spaces in the blade making the knotwork stand out. Never seen that before. And I'm guessing it reduces the weight of the blade? Also like how the hilt has that flowy feel.

Er, and while I may be mistaken, I think the wood might be bubinga. Lovely choice.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Ugrik In reply to Falco-sparverius [2006-07-02 10:12:01 +0000 UTC]

Heh. it does make blade slightly lighter bus same time a bit weaker (none of my blades have broken jet). I think the beauty is the main reason . I really dont know about the wood - et the moment i only know that the purple one is amaranth
