Sweet picture, could we use it? We're making a zombie RPG and need a good picture for the rule book.

Is that even a real helicopter though, or is it just based off one? And what nation are they from?

Reading World War Z, decided to come back to this piece of art. On another topic, now I know what the heli reminded me of. The one from Contra III.

You can really feel this picture. The chaos and confusion of a sudden drop into the midst of the enemy in a desperate effort to retrieve one's comrades really comes through. It reminds me of some of the stories I heard about similar events in Vietnam during the war there.

I saw this one over at the concept ships blog site. Awesome work, man. I'm really digging the chopper design. It reminds me of a futuristic MI-24. I also think the lighting around the muzzle flash from the chin gun adds a whole new dynamic to the image. It really gives the scene a sense of urgency. Pretty sure this picture will inspire me to do some helicopter art of my own.

I've been trying to wrap my head around the whole 'polished and precise vs. rough and expressive' painting approach for a while now. I still haven't come to a conclusion as to how people react to said styles. Which do you think you prefer? And why? Curious.

Well both have their advantages, the polished look is good for much more tame pictures while the rough is good for action, it depends on what you want to convey through the picture. I think a mix of both is best for things like this, gives the feeling of movement (rough) while it still has the clarity for detailed models (polish).
Basically I like the mixture leaning a little towards the rough side.

I was afraid it sounded a bit too generic, but no matter, I enjoy your drawings and paintings hope to see more!
