AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! fuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuck.......this took forever, so sorry~ AAAAA~
this is for FOR SHYEAH!! yeah, cause we did this awesome trade thing that my picture is like month late for mmmhmmm *nods*
yeah, hahah heh ....he..heh....
School started like 20 days ago and between that and my 40 hr/week apprenticship, my life has rather rapidly...disappeared...
yeah so even though this picture didn't take that long combined it was stretched out cause i could never really find time to work on it :/
This is Wataru, the vocalist from 12012 and he's amazingly sexy though he looks rather dumpy in this picture. The ref pic (which i'll post later since i don't have it on me) he had this lovely red sparkly vomit *_* and AS alluring as it was....i decided to take it out :3 so his lips and chin area is very very imporvised. yah

I usually do F, then HB, then 2B and sometimes 4B.

just as an example of what i mean if you look at my picture:

if you look at the really dark areas on his jacket? those were done with a very dark 8b because in the picture reference those areas were solid black but on his lapel you may notice it's shinier and not as black? that's cause harder "lighter" pencils were used, it made an ugly contrast that i found jarring and distracting. I'm probably being picky, but whatever. just wanted to show you what i meant.

he's actually good looking, just not really in this picture.
and i actually only used a mechanical pencil on this. I've used drawing pencils before and don't really like them all that much but that's just a personal preference.
i use a mechanical pencil and adjust pen pressure for my lighter areas then build up my shadows in layers. It usually takes several layers to get really dark areas but i perfer that method over the heavier B pencils because they're so soft and leave a different texture on the paper than the lighter pencils that are harder, and a residue of graphite dust. XP bleh. i like that if i use the same pencil all the way through it seems to look more consistent and not have some areas shinier from the harder pencils.
