Recently, I've started taking martial arts classes. I'm learning Tae Kwon Do, Hapkido and Kickboxing.This was taken last week, after my first class. I was sore that day. Now, though, I'm good. I'm learning a lot and not too bummed about the mistakes I make. After all, no one was made a master in a day, were they?

Well, I hope you can get back into some sort of martial arts. My son, daughter, and I train as often as we can. Never know when the skills might be useful, and keeps you fit.
My daughter is currently active in Kyudo (Japanese archery) but was into Kendo for 3 years. My son was into Kendo as well, but also practices Judo and Iaido. I taught both of them various moves from Red Dragon Kempo, Judo, Karate, and Kung Fu since they were about 2 years old. My wife insisted on this, for our children to be able to defend themselves.

Sounds good. It always helps to be prepared. Discipline is another benefit.

The discipline is extremely useful on it's own from what I can see.
As for the prepared bit, the way the world is going recently, we might all need to start getting ready for SHTF time. I live in Japan, and our government has managed to achieve a debt that's over 200% of GDP and has started printing the Yen out like it was kitty litter. We've got China acting the bully in the Asian neighbourhood, as if they want a hot war and are just itching for a fight with five of the other countries around here. North Korea has gotten nukes in the past ten years. We're getting more earthquakes and the water in Tokyo Bay is now warm all year round so there are tropical fish thriving there in the Winter, looks like Mt Fuji may erupt. If the Japanese Yen does crash, the bust will take most of the rest of the world's economy with it. Then look at what's going on in the USA and Europe, everywhere people are getting angry and losing their jobs.

That's awesome you're doing this~ Tae Kwon Do is super fun. I plan to go back once things settle down with having a baby and all.

Good luck in your TKD journey. Mine lasted for 7 years, where I have practiced 5-6 times a week. I started with ATA (American Taekwondo Association), and later decided to go for a WTF (World Taekwondo Federation) approved school at ATC (American Taekwondo Center). ATC schools follow the standard WTF curriculum that is recognized all over the world, so I consider that the "real" Taekwondo, while ATA made up their own curriculum so they can only compete among themselves.
