I'm a noob to 3DSM but when I attempted the tutorial I didn't have the same result with the extrude of 1.4. It did not give me a new section but rather just added more to my current cube. I have selected the side with the polygon. I'm not sure what's wrong. :/

Yes, i think what you did is correct, what the extrude tool does is adds more or extends the cube, it doesnt split it, they are 2 sections of the cube now because they are divided by the edges, so basically you have two halves of the same cube. But is sounds like you did the right thing, perhaps only my wording got a little confusing. If theres still something wrong, post a screen in your scraps and note me, i will have a look and help you out

thanks for attempting the tutorial

It makes the object longer so you wouldn't really be able to tell the difference. I can't select the top and bottom either. :s

hmmm, ok, try this, in the top left of the perspective view port, you have the name 'perspective', if you right click on it, it gives you lots of options, make sure the Smooth + Highlights option is checked and check the option that says Edged Faces. This will allow you to see all the edges and separate faces. You are trying to select the top and bottom faces right? are you in the right 'mode'? reffer to my tutorials for more info to select multiple faces use the ctrl + click function

hope that helps

nice tut, but if you're doing something for educational purposes, I would suggest using a font that is a little bit easier to read right off the bat.

I like the way these tutorials are put together. Pictures are in good proportion so you don't have to squint to see what they are doing. Great work. Keep em coming.
