Description :AN OLD WORK:

Many times I have thought about the time, when small Kakashi has taken decision to hide his face. He was 8-12 then - due to manga - and I think that it was closer to 8, right after Sakumo's death.

I thought about the day when he stood before the mirror one morning, wiping his face, and suddenly realising that he wants to cover it from other people.

Watercolour on paper.

it would make for since if it was right after Sakumo's death, it would be as if the mask was hiding his emotions towards the world. like he said in his special chapters, "emotions are unessasay" (or something like that I can't remember word for word)

I love this the sadeing is amazing, I love everything about it its cools

This is just beautiful! You got the emotion so well placed in his eyes, he looks like he's having a revelation and dying inside at the same time!

Awww~~ This is really amazing! *__* I love everything about it.
The lighting is nothing short of gorgeous and Kakashi's facial expression is poignant. There's so much to read in his eyes even if his face his already hidden. ;__; The pose is great because it expresses much as well.
I'm in love with your choice of color palette and the harmony of the whole picture.
Absolutely GREAT work.

Thank you!
I like to do them in realistic style probably because of my too serious attitude towards this manga

A sweet picture indeed ^^

I really like the realism you put into the pic, though I belive Kakashi is what we would call "Plating blonde" (white hair), but ok - it's your take on the colors. Nonetheless it's a great picture!

Thank you!
Kakashi's hair here turned out a bit darker, than I expected, though, I imagine him having really grey - like ash - hair.

vonPipkin In reply to Umaken [2008-10-30 06:04:35 +0000 UTC]

hmmm no - I've written some of Kishimotos notes on this, and it's definitly white I don't know why they decided to color it grey in the animΓ© when every picture that Kishimoto has ever colored of him has white hair. *confused*

Umaken In reply to vonPipkin [2008-10-30 08:20:48 +0000 UTC]

You confused me I went to look through all Kishimoto-coloured manga pages I have at hand

Well.. You're right that his hair is surely lighter, than in anime... But compareing to Jiraiya's hair they look much more greyish to me, not white...

*desiring to read those Kishimoto's notes* ))

But thank you anyway for pointing this thing to me, now I became curious on that topic %).

vonPipkin In reply to Umaken [2008-10-30 12:12:12 +0000 UTC]

hmmm I can only encourage you to look at some of his original works regarding this topic - AKA his marker works

You may find many of them in the art books he has published e.g. "Uzumaki - The art of Naruto"

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Umaken In reply to vonPipkin [2008-10-30 17:57:48 +0000 UTC]

Yes, yes, I DESIRE to see them!!!
I started reading\watching Naruto only this year, so I'm still a newby in this matter - there can be things which I din't even know they exist!
This seemes to be the one of this kind

vonPipkin In reply to Umaken [2008-10-31 07:39:49 +0000 UTC]

These books shouldn't be too hard to get - at least not the book I named for you
I treasure that book highly, since it contains all sorts of comments from Kishimoto himself - on his own pictures. Many comments relates to the meaning of the picture, and to the little symbols (swirls, fans, etc...) he draws on the characters. In Uzumaki - The art of Naruto, there is also a small interview with him, about the different personality's he has created, and he also gives a marker coloring tutorial, so it's a must-have for people like myself, who color with markers

(example of my own marker-work) [link]

Umaken In reply to vonPipkin [2008-10-31 22:56:32 +0000 UTC]

OK, I've started looking for that book

Thanks for the information!!

(I didn't even think about markers - somehow I thought Kishimoto colours his cover pages in watercolour...)

hehe nope
"just" markers ... they're pretty challenging to use.

Umaken In reply to vonPipkin [2008-11-01 08:38:43 +0000 UTC]

and (sorry, I forgot to say) your work impressed me, it looks pretty much like traditional manga, but from the other hand has it's own style!

I'm very glad to hear you like my work, but I wouldn't expect anyone to comment on it ^^

Umaken In reply to vonPipkin [2008-11-01 08:36:27 +0000 UTC]

I didn't say "just" And I didn't say they're in any way easier than other tools

I think, I don't know what "markers" exactly mean, for it looks like we don't have them here. I saw here only one kind of them - used in offices, and I don't have any idea, what do artistic markers look like...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

vonPipkin In reply to Umaken [2008-11-01 08:44:42 +0000 UTC]

No no I didn't mean it like that sorry

But here is the markers I use - the Japanese COPIC markers. They cost a small fortune here at home, but they're the best I ever had. [link]

There is another "model" of the COPIC marker, where it doesn't have the bflexible brush tip, but just a normal tip - though I prefer the brush-markers

this is wonderfully done! the expression is heartbreaking and the use of watercolor is wonderful. the way the reflection is paler makes it easy to understand that it's in fact a reflection
