I speculate/hope that when madara says he 'gave' nagato the rinnegan, he just gave him the conditions to activate it. Because Nagato activated it when his parents were killed - so possibly emotional grief/need is what activates them. Hence if this is an Uzumaki bloodline, it could be an unknown bloodline, and Kushina never met the conditions to activate them, hence why she never had them. So it could be possible that naruto could posses it.

Meh, It's just a theory. But with how the series has been messed up so far, i wouldn't put it past him to put it in.
Like how bout this for a crazy theory, it is an uzumaki bloodline, but the reason naruto or kushina never had it was cos of the kyuubi being sealed inside them. Far-fetched i know, but then this would mean that madara would have to remove the kyuubi from naruto, and by this stage he'd already have gotten killer b. Then we have the epic showdown of Madara with the 10-tails vs Naruto with rinnegan. It would be an epic battle.

Only dark reds count. And remember: Most Uzumakis might have red hair, but not all redheads are Uzumaki. Just like all Uchihas are dark haired, but not everyone with dark hair is an Uchiha.
Making Nagato an Uzumaki was a brilliant step, since he's in a way, to Naruto what Itachi was to Sasuke.

You all are completely taking what Masashi Kishimoto meant way wrong. He was implying Nagato was either half Uzumaki like Naruto or full breed Uzumaki like Kushina. If that whole "omg gaara sasori chouza are all related!" was the case then it would of been implied directly. Lets go over this, Nagato is roughly the same age as Kushina. Uzushiogakure was destroyed, Around that time the few survivors *Kushina, Nagato and his mother and father* fled to neighboring, surrounding country's, Kushina was taken to Konoha, Nagato and his family went to the Hidden Rain*poor people, they leave one destroyed country to another thats about to be destroyed* So Nagato is either half Uzumaki or whole Uzumaki. Either way, Sasori, Gaara, and Chouza are NOT related to the Uzumaki until stated or directly implied by Masashi Kishimoto himself. If Gaara was Uzumaki he wouldn't have died so easily after his bijuu extraction, for example: Kushina. Use your damn heads people.

Yeah, I was surprised when I found that out too. In hindsight it kinda makes sense though that the Uzumakis would make good hosts for the bijuu because of some latent Rinnegan or something. Cuz that all came from the Great Sage or whatever his name is that created the bijuu to begin with, didn't it?
But maybe I'm just trying to rationalize hole-y canon?
