Man.........I've been playing SA2 for chao garden and feed lots of chao with fruits without abusing it and......I..............didn't even realized it.

Yeah, they do that. They still love you if you overfeed them.
They only dislike the character if you abuse them in terms of throwing and kicking a lot. Not sure about taking food from them though.
I remember for a test I raised one with constant abuse and when it cocooned the first time it then hated me.
It was interesting, the little bastard was in a constant state of a tantrum (animation of it stomping and flinging its arms) and when my character would walk near it, it would follow and hit me lol

I just find it amusing that whilst Sonic and co are rushing to save earth etc, they visit the chao garden and drug their chao up to win races for badges or prizes.
Anndd also cuz everyone whos played in chao garden know this feeling of force feeding lol
