I've had this one laying around for a long time. Just decided to color it today. Looks alright IMHO. But halfway through coloring, it wouldn't let me shade/highlight/do anything with Jessie's shirt, so it's unfortunately stuck like that OTL I like the gloves/boots the best xDBase reference found here: [link]

I really like this and I like it better than the other one. There's nothing wrong with the other one, I just like this one better. Don't know why.... This one is so cute and romantic and OMG rocketshipping *squee*
You know me though, and unless you're content with one-word comments (if you are, let me know) compliments go hand in hand with criticisms and I have a few of each on this picture.
While I see why you chose this pose and it's nice to see James as the dominant one (it actually works in this case), I wish you hadn't. The pose is a traced base that was made without the permission of the original artist so essentially art theft. Ugh. Really, I'm trying to discourage you from using these now. But other than that, this is really sweet and otherwise this pose would totally work.
The colour palette is great. The tones all match nicely! I don't know if you used colour pickup or mixed them from scratch and it doesn't matter because they look great - especially the colours for the hair/skin/gloves. Some of the colouring looks a little bit lazy and Jessie really should have her lipstick and much thinner eyebrows though (If you're going to use a traced base you could at least alter it to suit the character). Ooh but I see you added her earring! Yay! That makes a difference. While we're on the colours, I know I've mentioned this before but you really need to choose darker shades when shading white. I can hardly see it on here and compared to the gloves, it makes the colouring look really uneven. And where you've shaded the white (I think) you haven't shaded the red on the R. Again, that's inconsistent. An easy way to do it in PS if you want to do it quickly is open a layer and set it to multiply. Choose a medium grey and just colour over the white and the red at once and it makes a more even shade. Little things that just make it a little better.
Great try at folds, most of them look really good. particularly on the sleeves (Jessie's moreso than James' but his are good too). The folds on the wrists of the gloves are perfectly placed.
The eyes in general look really great but the highlights are a bit SUPER-KAWAII-SHOUJO-ROMANCE overwhelming, unless that was what you were going for in which case - perfect! Thick upper lash line! You know how I luffles the lashes <3
The background! I know there isn't one, but just thought I'd mention that it works. With that kind of pose, it's a bitch to try and think of a suitable one. Luckily, with your colouring style, no-background does work and brings all the focus onto the figures without the outside lines looking all weird.
Uh yeah. Think that's all. So I really like it. Stuff could be fixed but I like it.

Thank you, I always mix the colors myself unless I absolutely can't get the shade right, and then I pick from a screenshot, but even when that happens it's usually too dark so I end up changing it anyway. *headdesk* Lipstick, I knew I was forgetting something. As for the shading in the white, I always find that it looks really unnatural [more so] if I use a darker color. Maybe if I switch to a grey over a blue it might help ^^'
Folds are my mortal enemy. I was actually staring at my work shirt on Friday [while I had it on] because it had the best folds xD I was gonna take a picture and try it out but I forgot xD But thank you! I like the gloves best as well.
^^' I was trying to go for brighter eyes, mine always tend to lack...anything really. Guess I went over the top. I know for next time ^^'
