Description

Name: Samaire
Gender: Female
Height: 5'8"
Race: Water Oriad

Class: Fighter
City: Reluir, Iadlain
Habitat: A kink in a Wispwood river, the shattered, jagged stones and fragments of bone that built up along the river floor suggest that something violent happened there not long ago.

Personality:

Jovial | Responsible | Gallant | Loyal | Impulsive | Conceited | Negative | Reckless | Stubborn

A woman who believes that she has to move forward with every step, every breath, every moment,  regardless of what that must entail.

On the surface, Samaire is an easy-going woman who spends time to make sure everyone around her is just as relaxed as she seems. She champions the tenants of responsibility and bravery in the face of danger- always claiming her actions as her own and never sowing blame upon others for her own faults. Alternatively, she blames herself for every little thing and never takes advice on serious matters because she believes her own judgements and failures are her own. She feels she knows best in situations that concern her or those she’s become attached to. While unintentional, she tramples the suggestions and feelings of others by dismissing them out of hand and pressing onward with whatever task she’s given.

Underneath the surface, a more sullen Samarie reveals herself. She’s easily influenced by failures and negativity in both herself and others and begins to act in more and more reckless and self-destructive ways to push past whatever problem has confronted her. Frustration about lacking memories, bull-headed need to claim her issues as her own business, and a desire to be remembered all boil up into a dangerous cocktail that drives her to dismiss personal safety for whatever or whomever she’s sworn her friendship to.

History:

The nameless oriad was born lonely.

It wasn’t an unpleasant sensation, all things considered. Floating endlessly in a watery void as golden sunlight shimmered along the surface of the river, just out of her reach. There wasn’t any noise down here, save for the soft thud of the water lapping at the banks of the river and sloshing of the sluggish current around the twisted river lilies. She almost wanted to go back to sleep again, here in this quiet place.

Alone in this quiet place.

Her sudden movements broke the tranquility as she wrenched herself to life, eyes snapping wide as her throes threw her far off balance in the depths, a foot catching against the shattered stone below and suddenly righting her. Her desperate paddles stopped as she took a deep breath, feeling the water flow into her sleepy body and sparking lighting inside her sleep-fogged mind.

She was alive… but nobody knew but her.

She could fall back asleep again, or die again and simply just-- cease, and nobody would have ever been the wiser. A twisting motion in her gut caused her to curl up, free-floating in the water as her tresses of hair fanned out like a halo. She wanted to be found… she wanted someone to know her, in this moment, this awakened form, and proclaim that she was more than the quiet nothing around her. She needed to be able to-

Her mouth opened and shut wordlessly as she searched for the idea that she was looking for, her mind suspiciously null when she wracked her brain for the answer. This wasn’t getting her anywhere.

The only way to find out what was eating her was forward.

Her first gasping breaths of air were accompanied by her attempts to claw her way out of the river that she had been born in, her nails digging into the mud and bringing back great handfuls of earth as she made her slow way up to the roots of the trees that loomed over her. It was hard to breathe, and tough to make any sort of progress as she tried to get to her feet. It was much more comfortable back in the river, and she felt her body begging to go back… but deep inside her aqua eyes, a stubborn fire burned.

She may have been born alone but she refused to die alone.

She was going to make her way through these hanging trees and breathe this hard to swallow air- so she could find someone else. Someone like her. A place where she would be remembered.

She wouldn’t be alone.

Memories: Locked
Additional info:
-Given the name Samaire by the first person she encountered, be it Iadlish or Relan. It took a few moments but she eventually registered what they called her- and took to the new title with relish, bearing it with pride.
-The violence that haunted her birthplace was directly linked to the Relan summoning incident. The fragments of bone came from a poor soul who met her end on the river, and the shattered stones were caused by a skirmish between a hulking ice wraith and one of the local monsters.
-The water that she was formed from was slow-moving and sluggish- not much lived there anymore, aside from a few hardy river plants and the coating of aquatic moss on the stones.
-She wraps a cloth soaked with water around her mouth and nose to breathe more easily out of water.

wow!! SHE BEAUTIFUL! I love your use of soft colored lines on her! And your color scheme is just so nice! You did a really good job on the texture of the rocks and the reflection of water! I really really enjoy the little rocks on the side of her head they look like horns and it's so sweet!
