I started with Paint.Net. Then I blurred the "clouds" because there were some overly dark spots amongst them. You can the result here: [link] . For the other fractal [link] (which is really the same fractal, but in different colours) I drew over the previous clouds to make new, more stormy-looking clouds. I used the smudge tool in GIMP for that. It was the first time I had used anything like that. It was fun!
