Description

A quick sketch of Malladus from Hyrule: Total War.

Malladus made his rather forgetful first and only appearance in the Zelda game Spirit Tracks. He was essentially a throwback to the classical 2D Ganon with no real motive outside of "I'm the bad guy." Not really a poorly thought out or offensive villain like Ghirahim and Demise, just boring and forgettable. Like most of the characters in Hyrule: Total War he's been given a rather extensive background and makeover.

Looks like you made him your version of the Anouki.

I would like to point out that his eyes had a similar glow to them like Hylia before she went Psycho-God-I-Am-Bow-Mortals. Plan on doing anything like that Nephalim?

So what made you decide not to make this guy a Druthulidi? He's a possessor and an ambiguous non-Ganon villain you could've ran with.

I suppose I felt there were too many really ancient being bad guys, I kind of liked the idea of someone who just rose to power from nothing.

Cool. Alright, man.

Here's the real challenge: incorporate the CD-i games.

...See I cold have bought this character. There's a reason why I called him "Marshmallow-dus" in-game. Just could not take him seriously and care.Β

I could care about a villain who looks like this. Nice job!

So guessing by your trailer this Malladus is a Mobblin instead of a Demon king. (sorry if I misspelled that.) Also will Cole the Controller be in this to (also sorry if I misspelled that to. He's the little leprechaun demon try to resurrect Malladus.) Because even people who hate Spirit Tracks think he was a great character. Also if Gannondorf be in this to (he was the main antagonist of Wind Waker and there is no other villains he could stealing the spotlight from.) Or will he just be in the Gruto Wars arc (sorry if I misspelled that too.)

Yes Malladus is an Ocean Blin here. Cole will likely make an appearance, though I personally never thought he was a great character. Ganondorf will not be in this, his whole deal is resolved by the time this storyline starts up.

Ok. A possible idea for a direction you could take Malladus is to make him be a little like Ganon but only more willing to play a little dirtier. (Just a idea scents you like having the villains be sympathetic and or have admirable qualities.)

YES. MALLADUS GETS A SHOT AT THIS GAME TOO!

Frankly I hope all the villains get their due in HTW. Malladus looks like he might be a Moblin character. Or is he gonna be another member of the Druthulidi?

With him down, the only one left who should get some attention is Bellum.

There were so many things wrong with the Malladus fight it's not even funny.Β

I've probably spent more time on Spirit Tracks than I should have, though.

Personally I didn't find him forgettable, but I don't think he as a villain would work outside of Spirit Tracks. Β He fit too well with the game to be able to be expansive...

Oh geez, maybe he is forgettable after all. >n<

Dude. Far Out Man! This is a way more creative villain in my opinion, and very well done too. Sadly yes. As I've witnessed, it seems like Nintendo puts way effort on making anything memorable anymore, worst of all too there villains. To me, this guy was just Ganon 101 Reincarnate or something, I'm glad to see he has a make over at least. Can't wait to see what you do to him in your game.

So what is he like some other species of creature of sorts because he doesn't really look Moblin to me^^

All you have to do now is remake Bellum and I will freaking Worship You! Because let's be honest here, whether you like Phantom Hourgless or not, at least Bellum was a tad bit more interesting then your common and generic boring Zelda Villain. To me the creature wasn't as much Evil as it was just a Powerful and Hungry Monster that wanted something to eat.

Seeing a redesign done by you would be badass.

Haha yes! Sarcasm of course. But I am still rather impressed of the lengths you've gone for your work. Granted of course, it's not perfect OBVIOUSLY NOTHING is but the amount of work you put in certainly shows much more passion then I think Nintendo has done for it's supposed beloved franchise in what seems like... I don't know... Ages...

That's probably the most disappointing thing for me personally about recent Zelda games. It's not so much the art style, it's not the wacky inhuman characters, it's not the fact that they do not treat the games very seriously anymore (though those do contribute), it's just the the feeling that no real effort is put into making those games at all.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TheNightmareCooper In reply to UndyingNephalim [2013-11-11 07:13:30 +0000 UTC]

Yeah! See, there that's my issue. Honestly the cartoony graphics I can deal with and (No Offense) Wind Waker was personally one of my favorite Zelda games, though I now realize that it was mainly because the game took itself rather seriously aside from the cartoony graphics and Nintendo I felt did care about the story. Also personally I felt like it was the last 3D Zelda game that I felt was actually being innovative, new, and ballsy; what with not just the cartoony graphics but being set into a new world, new realm, and added control mechanics. Not perfect mind you but at least it was an attempt in something, and not just sucking up to the fans... Sorry Twilight Princess.
I agree, that's the worst part. I highly doubt Nintendo even tries or cares about there series anymore... Honestly it feels more like there just parodying there work rather then actually trying to make it.
Spirit Tracks to me was a perfect example of this, it almost seems bored of itself, which is why it adds all the color and humor to distract. At least in my opinion.

UndyingNephalim In reply to TheNightmareCooper [2013-11-11 07:21:12 +0000 UTC]

I do feel Windwaker was a genuine attempt to just do something different, regardless if the result was good or not.

Eiji Aonuma has confirmed not too long ago actually that Twilight Princess was the result of huge fan rage against Windwaker, so "sucking up to the fans" probably is not that far off from the reality of it. Lucky me I suppose, I happen to be one of those fans that were sucked up to. Twilight Princess had pretty much every element I wanted in a Zelda game short of a solid and consistent lore connection to previous games and is probably is my favorite game in that series so far.

Unintentional Parody is how I'd describe it. Characters and events are constantly making fun of themselves now. Princess Zelda is freaking murdered in Spirit Tracks, and not even fifteen seconds after such a horrifying thing happens she makes light of it and acts wackitastic; it just ruins the whole mood for me. Spirit Tracks and Skyward Sword are full of moments like that. I'm not really sure how people are not turned away from such an inconsistent tone, I guess people just have their own tastes.

Then silence yourself. Leave. Don't like the games, then don't linger.

Bitching about how a series is dead has never helped anything. You think those guys up in Nintendo are cruising around DA, looking at every NEET's opinion?

I don't like every Zelda game either, but I don't donate walls of text to bitching about, say, Skyward Sword or Spirit Tracks.
