It's kind of funny....a few years ago I did an ICO fanart in about 20 minutes, just a quick nothing of a sketch that I really didn't think twice about. As it turns out, that piece has been one of the most popular of my works on dA. Go fig XD Well, I just stumbled over it again and decided I'd like to do a companion piece for it of Wander and the Colossus (or Shadow of the Colossus as the US title goes)This took more like an hour rather than 20 minutes, but it was a fun sketch to do. More quick and emotive rather than painstaking and detailed. Also, apparently I have a thing with sunbeams lately o_o Ah well, hope you enjoy~!

You are a hot, young stud who has brought his questionably alive lady friend to a forbidden land in order to request that an imprisoned demon bring her back to life--because these arrangements always work out beautifully for all concerned.
The demon's terms are that you search the forbidden land for sixteen giant monsters and kill each and every one with a sword that, by rights, they would barely register as a splinter. I love the drama and the lighting this picture, even though you didn't exactly get Wander's silhouette right. The leaves, the grass, the tree, the mountain... everting comes together for a feel that is warm and yellow, yet cool, fresh, and blue. A lovely contrast.

Welcome to the annoying world of fanart favouriting. I mean, it makes sense that more people will find art based on famousish stuff that they like, but it's still annoying every time that awful Princess Peach picture of mine gets a favourite... XD
Great image here though. I love how even the grass looks taller than Wander. Mountains in the backdrop look spectacular for some reason too XD

This game was awesome. It really blew my mind when I played it. The sheer size of some of the colossi were amazing. And you've captured that, and the look of the game, very well in this piece

that is one nifty quicksketch.
i gotta say that game really was awesome. ico...i don't think it stood up to time as well, because a lot of ico feels like a mergance of myst and JRPGs. at the time it was innovative. now people just go 'arg why can't i killz teh shadows 4evar and levels up.'
also the almost complete lack of a soundtrack for ico probably didn't help endear it to some people. i notice a lot of nostalgic-gamers really latch onto soundtracks. ico basicly had the save music, i think.
