The real deal:

First part for BFOI!

I might add some more info if i finished submitting everything... or something.

To put it on a nutshell, Rhea still is annoyed by the rain and thinks it's a good idea to look for keys on the top a the trees (hey, that rhymes! *bricked*) while Elara tries her luck somewhere else. Do you know these moments in cartoons when the goofy character is looking for something and always looks at the weirdest places? Well, that's likely one of them. Probably Elara is more surprised about her finding than Rhea. |D

Actually, this picture is one of those I put more effort into and even though it could be much better (as always), it still is acceptable. I'm even rather happy with the outcome since I had the idea to texturize the background. It happened to drop after rewatching "Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica". At least it's not the worst picture so far, so yay! xD

Moreover... why do all picture I've seen so far have lots of grass? I don't know how forests look like in other countries but here in Germany, the floor of a forest is everything but grassy. Except when there's a clearince, then there's lots of grass. ... But then again, in the Pokemon games you're always run around in grass, and I don't mean the grass to encounter wild Pokemon but the paths... idk. Now that I think about it, it feels weird... ignore me. *shot*

Oh gosh, I love these kind of scenes!

It could've been better, but look at the bright side; it could've been worse!

Rhea, you're definately gonna find something from that height. >w>
imean-
You're pretty good with plants and stuff! ouo The trees, the more detailed and less detailed leaves, grass... it just all looks so nice and natural, at least, as natural as cartoon/anime style can get. xD
I can't say that about the rocks though, sadly. Took me a while to recognize what they are. xD;;
I blame the bad choice of light source though. I'd expect it to be dark all over the place during a storm like this. There is a stronger light source in front of Elara which I consider to be too strong for such circumstances. A similiar problem is with the rain; with all the trees and leaves above them, shouldn't rain... less? Although there is the possibility that the viewer is in the point where there aren't as many trees and stuff.

Anyways, I can't say that I have mostly negative thoughts about this picture, quite the opposite! Okay, it has its flaws - but hey, I've already told that nothing is perfect, right? As I said, you're heaps good with plants and I just really like the atmosphere of rain and storms, which although is completely subjective, but hey (I seem to like this fraze, huh?), at least it gives me another reason to like this picture. <3

And here come the longer, more detailed comments~ *slapped*

Yeah, I know the rock sucks. I wanted to draw it differently than I usually draw it but it somewhat failed. I can only say "no progress without experiments" once again. It failed but now I know how to NOT draw rocks, and that's a good thing! xD
Yup, it should rain less. But here I was more worried about people saying "hey, shouldn't it rain, what's going on?", so the rain is for the... bakas? Idk. *shot*

Hey, you don't need to think a picture is perfect to like it. I found myself faving the more unperfect stuff more often than the flawless, awesome pictures. So I'm not even asking for being perfect - I'm trying to approach a certain level of perfectness, though. If that makes sense. o3o

The rain is for the BAKANI!! -dramatic point with white cane-

...imean-
-ahem- I'm heaps glad that we share opinions about this. I understand what you mean, though I can't find better words for that myself. owo;;

Although it's 'imperfect', not 'unperfect', silly. .w.

Thanks. I didn't mean to apologize for my errors in that game, I merely wanted to say that I noticed myself but have been too lazy to change it again once it was finished. Just saying. i'm lazyyyy~ |D

Yeah yeah, I got that. My brain just keeps forgetting. I'll try to get it right next time. though. ~ ~

Yay, you go! You can do it!

...how should I call you, by the way? We haven't thought about that. ouo;

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Unu-Nunium In reply to LogicDefect [2011-05-29 11:54:26 +0000 UTC]

Call? However you want. Some call me Rean, some by my first name and some others started to stick with BnR. It's up to you.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

LogicDefect In reply to Unu-Nunium [2011-05-29 12:36:36 +0000 UTC]

In that case, I'll think of a nice nickname for you. ouo

...maybe. ouo;;

You can call me Patrik, Iceguy, Icey, Sheep... or give me another name. I leave the decision up to you. .w.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Unu-Nunium In reply to LogicDefect [2011-06-01 17:59:16 +0000 UTC]

Okay, then I'll go for Icey. Sheep is cute as well but Icey is my fave of these. ovo

LogicDefect In reply to Unu-Nunium [2011-06-02 17:45:29 +0000 UTC]

Icey. Most people call me that way anyhow. owo

And as of now I couldn't think of a nickname for you. .w.;
But you mentioned earlier that some people call you by your first name; may I ask what it is? owo;

Great job as always!!
Lol Elara found the key so easily xD

Thank you. I like screencaps. : D
Yeah, Elara probably already played a lot of hide and seek in her life.

GeezGeorge [2011-05-19 23:11:22 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, usually the canopy of a forest won't let enough light down for grass, and all the falling leaves in a desiduous forest will block the new stuff from growing. But now you mention it, all pokemon forests have grass on the ground 0__0 It's like they're fields! And I'm glad to see you chased a bit of that inspiration out!
The texturing looks pretty nice, actually. It give it a nice.... texturous feel *shot*
Also, flat bottomed rocks exist, mostly when people want to hide stuff. Like my dad, for years, with a very obvious one in our garden. All alone. (herp de derp)

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Unu-Nunium In reply to GeezGeorge [2011-05-20 10:33:27 +0000 UTC]

Yes, that's what I was thinking about as well. The crowns of the trees would block the sunlight. That's why there's always soiled ground in forests. Maybe the grass in Pokemon is just... special. It's that awesome it doesn't need sunlight. THAT's why. Grass for everyone! *shot*
Well, I'm still demotivated working on these... but I think my motivation is rising again. Right now, I'm working on the last part and it feels like it's getting better again. C:
And thank you. Textures are love if you don't overuse them. *u*

Oh lol, so you have one flattened in your garden? That's cool!
...
Now I want one on my own. D:

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

GeezGeorge In reply to Unu-Nunium [2011-05-21 08:07:14 +0000 UTC]

The only reasons i can think of:
It's a fine carpet of sleep powder that accumulates over time with a high concentration of grass pokemon.
Too many pokemon using ingrain at once.
Shiny grimer ooze.
Or maybe the pokemon just diligently tend to the grass?

Also, our garden keyrock is pretty derpy. It's concrete poured into a rock shaped mold with rock-like paint on top. It has a little hole on the underside with a lid to keep a key in :3
It's all, hurr-durr, ahmma rawk.

XieRH [2011-05-19 10:53:56 +0000 UTC]

Yeah a forest floor isn't supposed to look like someone's front lawn. It's mostly soil.

The grey thing she's lifting up is a rock, right?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Unu-Nunium In reply to XieRH [2011-05-19 10:56:36 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it's a rock, hehe... I know it looks a bit strange but I wanted to try some other style for drawing rocks this time. No improvement without experiments, right?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

XieRH In reply to Unu-Nunium [2011-05-19 11:06:40 +0000 UTC]

Haha I think I was looking too much into it, cos it had a flat underside and the shading resembles fabric folds so I thought it was some object covered with a grey cloth

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Unu-Nunium In reply to XieRH [2011-05-19 17:16:38 +0000 UTC]

Pfft, next time, I will draw one badass rock for you! รฒ^รณ

...Then again, maybe it is one artificial rock made by the BFOI leaders just for hiding that key there... *headscratch*

Wafflegnome [2011-05-19 10:33:05 +0000 UTC]

Hey, looking good! I love Rhea's expression xD

Well in Australia it is pretty grassy in the bushland; ~ but it's like, long, yellow-ish grass -.-
But, I suppose in the normal, temperate forests we have grass is pretty much replaced by moss and debris. I guess that's just in most places though.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Unu-Nunium In reply to Wafflegnome [2011-05-19 10:46:51 +0000 UTC]

Thank you. :3

Long, yellowish grass? That's interesting, actually. I've never seen an Australien bushland (what a surprise! *bricked*), so I didn't know. O:
I guess forests would looks just way more better with grass all around. That reminds me of a wonderful spot of that little forest nearby... there's a tiny clearance with an overturned tree on it, high grass everywhere and lovely little yellow flowers on it. It also grants view to the highest tree in the whole forest which has really impressive roots, lol. <3

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Wafflegnome In reply to Unu-Nunium [2011-05-19 10:52:48 +0000 UTC]

Well a lot of the bush-land is suffering from drought (not so much now though with the massive floods in QLD) but the grass is kind of yellow, especially in the rural regions. So yes, sometimes long-yellowish grass xD depends where you go.
But a lot of the rainforests are nice on the coast!

Well I haven't seen any german forests so I wouldn't know either; but what you're describing sounds like a lovely place It sounds be very peaceful <3

wow Rhea :3

from a far I thought this was a screen cap from one of the pokemon movie's!

This is very legit :3

Unu-Nunium In reply to Ishida1694 [2011-05-19 10:41:49 +0000 UTC]

Thank you, I really appreciate that.

Now all I have to do is adding some black bars and put subtitles under it, THEN it's a screencap! What do you think? xD
