After getting way too deep into Papers, Please it occurred to me that the sister of the Inspector (you the player) is jailed in Arstotzka.

And despite your choices in fleeing to Obristan alone or with the whole family, she remains imprisoned for some unknown crime.

This reminded me of the scenario in The Next Three Days where a husband tries to break his wife out of prison, and enlists the help of a former criminal. The Inspector (or rather the Arstotzkan refugee) could use his smuggler friend Jorji Costava to contact Sergiu at his new post, and call in a small favor.

The sequel could have a totally different mechanism than sitting in a checkpoint booth and stamping documents. Perhaps connecting supply and demand, or arranging secret communications with past networks. I wish you could play as Jorji too. He is incredibly persistent and resourceful, perhaps enough to impersonate an official to transfer a prisoner?

Also discovered that Lucas Pope cut out a country called Skoatia, which had a crest like a bullseye. This was not necessary in a game where all the graphic assets fit into a few hundred megabytes.

I want a cross-country epic heist with a cast of characters belaying or betraying each other based on the political atmosphere.
