During the Siren's "Under Our Spell" song, you can see her and Bon Bon getting a bit too friendly over a piano. They also appear together a few other times during the movie.

I think it's pretty cool that they're honoring the fans like this.

Okay. You want Magni: Movie Critic? You got him!

Equestria Girls was a fine movie, but its main issue was following the same formula as the first season of MLP. Twilight goes to a new place, meets the people, makes friends, gets invited to a big party event, gets fancy for big party event, goes to big party event...

But in Rainbow Rocks, we see that the first movie was only a setup for the future Equestria Girls movies. After Season 4's explosive finale, Rainbow Rocks had a high standard, but it delivered. Mixing in some of the best music from MLP so far along with a likable Sunset Shimmer and three great villains, Rainbow Rocks has a few problems, but the movie is so good that you won't care. Or maybe the music and fan service will distract you. Either way, Rainbow Rocks has been seen positively by most bronies who've seen it.

Now, instead of: Oh god, another EG movie? the question is: When's the next EG movie?

I don't think people dislike the franchise for 'reusing the old formula'. It's worked in several episodes where Twilight goes outside her comfort Zone (Book Fort of Friendship) so being used in a movie wouldn't be too out there.

Putting aside the fact that the EG series, like the main series is, at it's core, a means of opening a new toyline (that in no way resembles Bratz), most people were disappointed by the following points:

1. As stated, it was a re-hash of the plot of Season 1, with humans.
2. The Main series takes place in a world filled with Magic & Monsters...the movie takes place in a Highschool.
3. We literally know two things about Sunset Shimmer: She was Twilight's Predecessor & she disappointed Celestia in some way. Even Sombra got a better backstory and he had, like, two lines in his two-parter.
4. Same re-hashed plot about a quirky girl becoming the Prom Queen.
5. Sunset's plan is stupid. Just...really? an army of brainwashed zombies...vs Equestria.
6. Pony-girl transformations. Just...Why?
7. And probably most importantly: TWILIGHT LEFT SUNSET ON THE OTHER SIDE.

I mean, seriously? She just left her there? After everything that happened? Redemption or not she should've at least brought her back to see Celestia.

That being said, while the plot(snrk)holes made me roll my eyes, I will agree that, at it's worst, Equestria Girls is Harmless.

I suppose my main gripe with 'Rainbow Rocks' is, mostly, Dash's Ego. While she's far from 'worst pony', she was never particularly my favorite character (Got dissed by a lot of jocks of both gender growing up) so seeing her as, arguably, the focus of the movie, even if this was never intended, soured my overall view.

Another thing that made me roll my eyes was the whole 'Battle of the Bands' thing. I mean, seriously? I could understand Sunset Shimmer manipulating things behind the scenes, but do the Dazzlings even GO to Canterlot High? I WILL give the movie credit for portraying an honestly redemptive Sunset Shimmer. Indeed, if this was just about her seeking redemption I'd probably have had more fun.

I did get a laugh out of Twilight's singing. Kind of gives credence to the 'Heartsong' or 'Music of Harmony' theory going around the fanbase to explain why so many characters feel the need to break out into song (without, y'know, damaging the 4th wall).

All in all, I agree that I'd probably like RR more than EG, since, y'know, the Dazzlings are an ACTUAL threat.

And on the subject of another EG movie: Human Twilight (As seen post RR), possible villain?

Like I said, I think the first EG movie was just a starting point. They had to set everything up for the other EG movies, that's why RR was so much better.

Aren't Bratz dead? If they aren't, then Hasbro has definitely succeeded with that toy series; Equestria Girls are more popular among children than Bratz or ponies.

Rehashing season 1 was probably an attempt to make us feel nostalgic. High school is just your average kids show setting.

Sunset more represents the anti-Twilight though. Her voice actor is Twilight's singing voice actor!

Not gonna argue that one, but kidnapping Spike was better than just letting Twilight win.

They'd be brainwashed ponies in Equestria, but think about it. If you put one drop of water in a bucket, it isn't heavy. Two drops? Please. But throw in a few gallons of water, and it's suddenly heavy. It's the same thing with Sunset's plan; her zombies would swarm Equestria and overpower everypony by their sheer numbers. Kind of like the Changeling invasion of Canterlot. Sunset has the element of surprise AND all the numbers to take her revenge.

Yeah, those transformations were kind of... scarring?

Celestia didn't seem to care. In a way, Sunset was exiled to the other world.

Rainbow Rocks gave Dash's ego a big boost ("Awesome As I Wanna Be" for example), but it didn't feel specifically about her.

The Dazzlings probably enrolled and got accepted quickly, or they just used their Siren powers to hypnotize Luna and Celestia into accepting them in. Twilight didn't do any of that. Sunset's redemption seemed a bit empty, so the movie decided to balance two connected storylines... and it paid off.

I can't see Human Twilight as a villain in a kid's movie, unless they really ARE taking bronies into account even more regarding the story. I more see her as poking around Canterlot High to find out what's going on at that school. I know she was just there to answer the question "Where's Human Twilight?" that everyone was asking in the first movie.

I'm more interested in 'Human Sunset Shimmer' actually. I mean, she clearly doesn't live with anybody, so she must have taken the ACTUAL Sunset Shimmer's place at Canterlot High...which begs a rather worrying question: Where is the Original Sunset Shimmer?

Could she have been the 'Nice' Looking Sunset from the early prom pictures (which hilariously grow decidedly more evil with each year?)

People can fault Celestia all they want for dumping everything on Twilight, but at least she CARES about her subjects safety, and it shows in how peaceful Equestria is, and has been for the past millennium.

Principal Celestia must be part Honey Badger, cause not only doesn't she care, she clearly doesn't give a f-!-ck.
