Description This is my next piece of Epic Mickey fan art.

These two Brer characters are my bosses for my Critter Valley level. After you leave Splosh Mountain and the cave entrance guarded by Brer Rabbit, you enter Brer Fox's Hideout. It is essentially the same style of area as the entrance area, but it's just larger and more spaced out. You need to get past a large boulder blocking a cave entrance. You must find 4 ropes connected by a pulley system and thin them out. Thinning the ropes out, will slightly move the boulder, until the cave is open. After entering the cave, you encounter Brer Fox and Brer Bear. Brer Fox, while standing on a large pillar, launches thinner at you, from his new mechanical arm.

(Backstory: Before the Thinner Desaster, Brer Fox got his arm mangled in combat. His arm was replaced with a mechanical one, installed by the Mad Doctor. It came with a thinner blaster installed inside the palm.)

Anyways, while Brer Fox launches thinner at you, you are engaged by Brer Bear. He swings his club at you anytime you come close to him, and because of the constant thinner launched at you, you have to constantly be on the move. In order to defeat Brer Bear, you must maneuver around Brer Bear, until he is hit by thinner launched by Brer Fox. After Brer Bear is it 3 times, he turns on Brer Fox, and topples the pillar Brer Fox is standing on. The pillar snaps in half while being toppled, and falls on Brer Bear. This immobilizes Brer Bear, and it's now just you against Brer Fox.

Brer Fox goes into rage mode, and launches 3 thinner balls at you in one attack. You have to maneuver around the cave and simply survive for a small amount of time. You can't attack him, so your only option is to run. After a few moments, Brer Rabbit will emerge from the cave entrance and attack Brer Fox for you. Similar to the fight with Captain Hook, after Brer Rabbit shows up, you are instructed to damage a set of control panels. After all of the control panels are damaged, the fight is over. Damaging the panels frees the enslaved animals in Critter Valley, and with Brer Fox and Brer Bear down for the count, the day is saved. You leave the area via projector screen that Brer Rabbit opens, and the level is complete.

I'm ok with the way this ended up, but I'm not extremely happy with it. Personally, I think I drew Brer Bear's neck a little to thin, and Brer Fox's face is screwed up. The reason why Brer Fox's arm is the way it is, is because originally, Brer Fox and Bear were to be Beetleworx animatronics. I later decided to change this to the real characters, because I thought hey. Nobody really sees these characters anywhere except the one ride at Disneyland, unless they look them up on youtube. And I don't think many people do. I'm sure dozens of young children wonder who these characters are on the ride, and they'll never really know, because Disney wont release Song of the South on DVD. So until they're more publicized, they will be in my Wasteland.

I would have liked to see these two in there somehow or at least in the sequel.

Yeah, they blew it with the potential.  They could have finally brought these characters back into the public light, and instead, they chose to completely ignore it.  For all its problems, it's a shame that Song of the South will never get the recognition that it deserves.

Thankfully, Kinect Disneyland Adventures has the Splash Mountain minigames and the characters as meet and greets which is definitely better than nothing.

Wait...Wha?!  It does?  I don't have a Kinect, so I've never actually gotten the chance to take a look at that game, but you've suddenly sparked my interest.

Oh yes! I love that they have the actual characters for meet and greets instead of...well, you know. Plenty of minigames, loads of fun and worth the kinect system. The only game I've actually got for XBOX/Kinect actually....since that;s the only game that's interested me so far.

Well, the Xbox One is out now, so...Not sure if I wanna just save up 500 bucks and get that, or spend it on a Kinect.

I'd go with the Kinect. Personally I have no experience with Xbox One nor do I want to because it doesn't really look like it offers anything new.

Nice idea. My brother considered these guys being in Epic Mickey too. When he told me, I considered it too. 'Course, after seeing some clips from Song Of The South, I figure these guys would be most at home in Bog Easy. You'd recieve a quest from B'rer Fox, who wants you to get rid of the ghosts, because when they showed up, they gave B'rer Bear a nasty scare, & now he's too afraid to leave his house. What do you think?

Bog Easy is based on New Orleans Square from Disneyland. The Brer characters don't live in New Orleans Square, which is why I think it's best for those characters to live in a place based on Critter Country.

Ah, okay. BTW, as with 9-Eyes, I notice there's only one way to combat B'rers Fox & Bear as of right now.

yeah, I know. I couldn't think of any way to have a second way to combat these two.

Think I thought of something.

Redeem B'rer Bear:In the cave, there is a thinned out stalagmite. Paint the stalagmite during the battle, and when B'rer Bear topples the pillar, instead of falling on B'rer Bear, the pillar gets caught by the stalagmite, & B'rer Bear is spared.

Redeem B'rer Fox:You have to have freed B'rer Rabbit. He comes in & taunts both B'rers Fox and Bear, getting them to chase him out of the cave so you can free the animals unhindered.

Yeah, in hindsight, I'd say probably just half-assing. May have to work on it a bit.

Thanks!

Fantasy Central is my take on Fantasyland. Tanker? A Beetleworx type.
