Seeing: Even as I got out of my SUV I took note of the clouds in what seem to be a sky only seen in Montana. As I walked to a spot that I felt would make a good composition I took note of the range of highlights, midtones and shadows, all with a gradient sky.

Thinking: Got to bracket this shot. The range of tones needed to make this a text book image is going to take 3 images (thinking HDR), hell I am not Ansel Adams. This way I could be sure to capture the gradient in the sky with the clouds defined by midtones. The highlights in high contrast of the reeds, framed by shadows, which also silhouette the bench.

Action: Zooming out to include as much of the sky as possible, using the highlights of the tree tops as a leading line of separation. The composition will yield a yin and yang of tones, making for a very dramatic presentation. Bracketing starting at +1.0 down to -2.0.

About the original: Gallery Wrap – will arrive as a finished product that comes ready for hanging in a home, gallery museum or office. Image is printed on premier art canvas substrate and wrapped around ¾” width wooden stretcher frame (24x30).
