Description This is the influence that I got right after watching the X-Games for a few years. Before this happened, Tony Hawk Pro Skater came out. My best buddy was stoked. We took the Rollerblade Spectrums out and made a skate video. Pretty sure I can unearth it somewhere back home. We made tricks, got creative and did a whole load of 'cool' things. What a memory! It got so real that I broke my Spectrums. The breaking of the Spectrums made way for my first pair of aggressive skates: The Feinbergs.

They were selected from a short list of skates that they advertised. There were a lot of recommendations on those message boards and websites way back in 1999. It was enough for us to pick up a pair from overseas. Around that time they had built a small skatepark at a popular sports bar called Putters. It had a half pipe, fun box, ankle high rail and a quarter or two from what I can remember. I remember testing my Specrum 3000s there a few times with a couple other guys and not getting too much done. My first skatepark experience was definitely in Antigua. With the Salmons, I wasn't really doing a lot of grinds yet. Just a lot of jumping, spinning and stalling. I remember one crazy day a group of us on skates were dropping into the ramp and skating together for about 6 hours at that skatepark. Fascinating experience! Sometime after that marvelous session (I did a Tabernacle on a ground PVC!) the fad died down until 2002.

I made some new friends (David, Damon and Tian)during Antigua Carnival that year. Peter Gavin Blanchard gave me a call to join this new rollerblading mass troop. We became the only aggressive rollerbladers on the entire island of Antigua. Man. My best friend, Nick, also joined but didn't stick around long in the game which was hard for me to accept. It was fine. It was through David and Damon I learned so many tricks (540, first forward 720 in Antigua. Pornstars. Cess slide across huge tables). We did a lot together. I really enjoyed those days. I skated in the mass troop the following year and after that, we continued doing sessions at other points on the island like the ports in Heritage Quay and Redcliffe Quay. Wow.

These skates opened my world to aggressive skating and it stayed with me forever. I didn't know it at the time but I was already trapped. Great skates. Great memories. Learned my first basic tricks in them.
