I like roosters. And I had all this board in neat sizes--this is 6 x 18--and a desire to fool with a vertical composition and some stylization ala Gustav Klimt, and...well...there we are. (I kinda want to do another one. Or another kind of bird. Or something. There's something oddly soothing about stylized portraiture with all that metallic schtuff.)It's a more impressive piece in person because I went wacky with the metallic inks and the gold leaf on the background, which never scans all that well. *sigh* Gold leaf is wonderful stuff, there's nothing quite like it, but it gets in EVERYTHING. It took me three minutes to leaf the piece, and I'll be pulling gold leaf out of my food and off the cat for the next six months.

i love chickens too! i hope not in the old lady manner, one day, where i will have kitchen tiles, curtains and cookie jars, but i do love toy chickens and real chickens. few people know how sweet they can be. I had one that after i didnt butcher him, he followed me everywhere like a puppy.

I like it. And, yeah, I can see the Klimt influence- I had to do some study on different depictions of Judith and Holofernes this year, and one of the most reoccurring ones was Klimt's.
