We are the light of a lamp, the warmth of a hearth, the farewells of a funeral pyre,
The blazes of passion, the tortures of Hell, and all other facets of Fire.

We tear straight through nature, through forests and homes, and reduce all opponents to ash.
With our crowning flames, and our radiant wrath, we are death both to Bug and to Grass.

On crystalline Ice and on shimmering Steel, though our glow may refract and repel,
It is our burning gaze, and our passionate heat, that shall cause you to melt and dispel.

We cannot burn Fire, and they can’t burn us, because we are both one and the same.
And we cannot burn Dragons, those exalted beings, whose hearts are profuse with our flame.

A Fire breathes air like the living, and in Water we are cheerlessly drowned.
And, like you, we can’t breathe if we’re buried, so we’re smothered while in Rock or in Ground.

A Fire is much like the living; we burn strongly and then we go out.
We Fires shall all become ashes. And from ashes shall new Fire sprout.
