I would absolutely love to! My first visit to the states included only a small dose of the east coast - perhaps it would be only logical to next see some east and after that the north. The Great Dismal Swap really looks absolutely fascinating

It also has a load of ghost stories in it's history. Also a really funny drinking story concerning a man getting the water and liquor mixed up at an inn. The roots of the cypress trees that grow along the edge of Lake Drummond (the main body of water in the swamp) basically turns the water into a sort of slightly acidic tea (which also made this some if the safest water to drink at the time as few if any microbes can grow in it) that's brown in color. The liquor, moonshine, is colorless and clear. As the case was the inverse where the man was originally from, and he assumed that how he knew it was the case everywhere, he made the mistake of putting too much booze in his drink and was forced to "retire early." It wasn't until he went to the innkeeper to apologize for his conduct that he learned what he was actually drinking.
