Description

as ive recently graduated from university (but im doing a graduate certificate later in the year) i decided to do some thinking about the emissary verse and quickly realised there are a lot of things that i either got rid of or am not including in the emissary verse, especially compared to canon. a lot of these are based around the comics - with the occasional power rangers/whoniverse lore sprinkled in. so... here we go;

 paul and other zebb wells creations - i dont understand why this character exists. he straight up cucks peter parker and causes his main love interest - mj - to leave him. its the stupidest thing ever, as a result, im writing him and other creations of zebb wells out of the emissary verse. i understand he probably has some good ideas, but this has kind of ruined him as a writer for me

 thrax - this is partially because of how bad of a characrter thrax was, how little sense his existence made, and also bc it would be impossible for rita and zedd to have a grown kid in the emissary verse, when i dont even know if rita or zedd both exist at the same time :') oopsies! this is what happens when you just focus on one power rangers series

 dr light - the original dr arthur light. yeah, you know why. originally a comedic villain, in identity crisis, it was revealed that his memory was wiped and he was made docille by zatanna because... uh... well... i dont know how to explain it in a pg13+ way but yeah! if you want to make a comedic character actually evil/impactful, maybe going that route was not the right decision! instead, kimiyo hoshi is dr light from day one and she's a good guy

 the dark multiverse - its complex, its weird and its too much for my dumb little oc crossover story featuring stories i like. the dark multiverse is fun conceptually, but the second you actually think about it, you realise its messy and confusing. im keeping earth 3, however, mostly because i love my interpretation of the crime syndicate (here called the injustice league)

 the team titans - "wait, siobhan, who are these guys? ive never heard of them?" well, for a brief period in the teen titans, they introduced a group of characters from the future called the 'team titans' for... some reason, i honestly don't remember. the main thing i remember about them was the red-skinned female member of their group, known as mirage, used her shapeshifting abilities to... uh... well... im not gonna say bc much like dr light above, i dont know how to say it in a pg13+ way. theyre just not impactful to the story of teen titans either

 malekith the accuser - oh this guy's not in the emissary verse for the dumbest reason. that being his mcu live action casting. yes, i know, no one watched thor 2, but if you did and were a huge doctor who fan, you would know that christopher eccleston (aka the ninth doctor) played malekith in that dumpster fire of a movie. the dark elves are still around, but maybe have a different leader or something. now i know people are going to say 'what about purple man', but the thing with purple man is i dont associate him with david tennant as much as i associate malekith with eccleston (edit 10/05/2024 - im probably going to change this to the guy from avengers 100 lol, the reason for dropping malekith so dumb imho)

 jack robertson - thirteen's era of doctor who was released during donald trump's presidency. why the hell did we need a trump copy on our screens? why was he important to the plot? why did he team up with the daleks??? he straight up only existed to be a take that! to the acting us president, which had gotten stale by that point, especially while americans were already dealing with him being in office. i get that doctor who has had political allegory before, and probably will in the future, but robertson is just such a dumb and ham-fisted interpretation that it made people forgive the happiness patrol. the happiness patrol!

 harley quinn sleeping with teachers to get her grades - yes, i know this was written by harley's creators. yes, i know its canon. however, this is literally the most degrading thing for harley - making harley just stupid not only feels a bit victim-blamey towards her relationship with joker, but also completely negates the fact that she's a psychiatrist first and joker's ex-gf second. i love the way that the harley quinn tv show shows her psychological knowledge, specifically in the episode where she literally tries to therapise bruce wayne (fails miserably but still) and its such an interesting take on her character. this however? yeah its just bad.
