Description When most iconic characters of a franchise already become essential part of bigger and more popular series, making sequel to original one could be seen as bad idea, but I still think that smaller franchises deserve a chance. Of course, they should be reinvented in both gameplay and visual style, and also in terms of characters and story. I obviously focused on visual part, and in my opinion, AoF could look kinda interesting with a visual style of 90th action tv-series and direct-to-video movies, focused on realistic (in terms on those movies of course) fightins with a little bit of cheesy-looking special effects (Highlander-style). Also, live-action QTE cut-scenes in story mode could make it kitschy but unique. No doubt, there is a whole variety of appropriate visual styles for this franchise's reboot, but I'm  pretty sure that "general anime" isn't what could help AoF to stand out.

It's certainly took a lot of time to make my first big 3D picture after I focused on 2D editors for years. Overall, I quite happy with result.

It'd be great if Netflix, HBO, STARZ or somebody would pick up and do an SNK series like this.
A gritty action TV that wouldn't skimp on the violence, gore and gratuitous nudity.

It's based on a video game, so I think that they really should put in those "Highlander-style" effects.
Look at all the fighting game movies that DIDN'T put those moves in....THEY SUCK.
Like maybe a cross between the new Mortal Kombat: Legacy and Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist.
The latter actually DID put them in over the other 2 live action SF adaptations....
and is the only one of those 3 that DIDN'T SUCK.
(I have not yet seen Street Fighter: Resurrection)

Since AoF and FF seem to share the same universe, I think that this show should encompass both game series.
Maybe title it just: "Southtown".

>It'd be great if Netflix, HBO, STARZ or somebody would pick up and do an SNK series like this.

That's sure would be cool, yet I believe there should be AoF games reboot tied to it, and not in terms of "based of" additional/parallel product, but something really fused with it in some not yet invented by media way.

>It's based on a video game, so I think that they really should put in those "Highlander-style" effects

FX in those settings is a pretty delicate part - overall visual style of picture dictates if it would be seen authentical or extraneous. And I really think that if you give AoF this dated 1995 Fist of the North Star movie\Highlander the series look, cheap special effects could be seen pretty natural. In case of SF:AF's clean picture I could not help thinking "yeah, that's probably best you can do with web-series budget" during FX-including moments. I actually wouldn't even mind if they didn't a single hadouken through entire series if there was more actual fighting. Still, best live action Ken and Ryu we've ever seen...  though 1994's movie had decent Zangief and Vega.

>Since AoF and FF seem to share the same universe, I think that this show should encompass both game series.

Tieing them together with that time gap between FF and AoF games would required some mighty skilled screenwriter, though result might be really worth it.

You're not alone in wanting to have an SNK franchise rebooted, I feel the same way towards Metal Slug though that series didn't get much appreciation in the KOF games.

Well, talking about Art of Fighting, there might be some AoF (or generally SNK) fans who could find it interesting to see franchise's reboot, but when it comes to Metal Slug, I beleive that there are crowds of people (including me) who dreams about its glorious ressurection, someting like classic DooM got this year. Problem is, while after SF4 2D-style fighting games proved to be appealing to the general public again, run'n'gun genre kinda seen as niche product now, so we don't have neither new MS nor Contra. But one day, one day...

>though that series didn't get much appreciation in the KOF games.

I'm not even sure we really need MS characters in KoF. Generally I'm not so against gun-wielders in fighting games, but I prefer KoF to be more focused on no-weapon fight styles.

Me, I'm not sure if SNK can pull off a Metal Slug 8 since they didn't bother getting back most of the original staff who made the first 4(?) games and that they chose to continue making tower defense games (of which I find very upsetting). And the reason I call for a reboot is because well why bother making a sequel in this day and age when the franchise is becoming more and more obscure and that again the original staff hasn't been brought back; not to mention that the previous two games didn't sell well due to the gameplay getting more and more stale (though better than MS6 IMO), and I don't see how MS8 would make up for that unless they completely spice up the gameplay. Now granted a reboot does not need to require the original staff of the series in question but for a company that constantly goes on and on about getting back into gaming and how they want to be the "anti-Konami", I find their treatment of their non-fighters to be in need of improvement, quite clearly.

Nowadays it's enough to make actual games instead of pachinko-machines to be anti-konami, but it seems like SNK's managers' hands still pretty tied due very limited resources so they just can't afford to make all those franchises reboots. Tower defense games surely looks like forced measure.

And a sleazy (and/or desperate) one to boot considering how low effort they seem to be. I'm not really a fan of them in case you can't tell, since I was waiting for an MS8 but I quite gave up on that a while ago.

Aren't all of major game developers of 80-90th had failed their fans to the certain degree by ruining / abandoning a lot of their main franchises, while old school original developers doesn't really do much better with their crowdfunding projects? Adapting to modern market's conditions is sure a hard task, but I still hope for the best.

I'm quite with you on that, since it seems that a lot of them have become more and more incompetent lately and some become more immoral (like Konami). But there is a saying that if the companies drop the ball, the fans got to pick it up; it's more like a paraphrase from AVGN but you get the idea.

Many thanks!

I looked more in Last Blade direction to be honest, though, anyway, next one will require from me significantly expand my knowledge in materials and rendering, so it will take a lot of time before I will finish the next one.
