Unlike Mars which solar stripping and other forms of atmospheric erosion will take tens of millions of years, which is a very easy problem to solve, just use self replicating nano tech or factories to keep the atmosphere buffed up.

A moon however even a large one like Luna (Earth's moon) would take 10s of thousands of years for stripping to make it nolonger suitable for human life without a space suit. To solve the problem, I propose building a global invisible dome to cover the entire moon, it can 1) sit above the atmosphere and orbit around the moon or 2)rest on top of the atmosphere (pillars if needed).
