Oil on hardboard. 60 x 60 cm

Started on this last Saturday when I got back from Orivesi, feeling a bit hungover. The idea was to keep painting, while still warm and have time. Work fast and loose. Paint from feeling, and see what comes out.

It's not based on a real landscape, or external reference. I made a brown and blue underpainting with acrylics, and was sort of planning to make a companion piece to Undercurrents [link] a more abstract version of it, with green leaves growing over dark waters... but what came out was a cityscape instead.

I guess it's in the series of partly abstract landscapes like Martinlaakso [link] or The Golden City [link] which I've been doing occasionally. It may also lead to the baffling conclusion that I feel like a city
