Description La Gleize War Museum, Baugnez/MalmΓ©dy, Belgium.

This German sapper (combat engineer) wears a leather + asbestos apron behind his camouflage parka. It is supposed to protect him a little from shrapnel if something blows up accidentally.

All of the uniforms, equipment, insignas...displayed in this museum are period, not repros. During their respective retreats, both Allied and German forces left behind huge quantities of equipment, part of it in very good state. True eye-candy!

Not sure what you mean. This looks to me as a German rifleman (Kar98k pouches on his belt) carrying an MG-34/42 ammo box in his left hand and is wearing a Zeltbahn (personal camouflage smock/tent section) and a greatcoat because it is...say...autumn 1944 (cold outside). Wehrmacht means defense forces, Heer means the army, which is this guy. Wehrmacht is a broad term that covers out of the Heer, Luftwaffe, Kriegsmarine, and Waffen SS, the first three.

I just copy-pasted the explainations given at the museum, without having enough knowledge to say if they are accurate or not. Thanks for the clarifications.
