Such a shame; Vizlet's being all subtle and inferring-like and Kass just has no idea what she's getting at.

Poor Kass, so many plans seem to revolve around her now. The eyes the matriarch gave her, and the Trademaster's intentions of conveniently having a new spy that was once human now turned Yinglet and loyal to them seems quite promising.

Yikes! I am just about creeped out as Kass is with these two characters! No means no! Though it probably means nothing against authority. XD

Woooow it been a while since I checked back here, curse higher educations and its totally voluntary shackles!
So much has happened in such a short space of time, this is really shaping up to be a... fun... little adventure for Kass N' Co and I can't wait to see where it goes.
like seriously, the stress is causing my blood to implode
Good Show!

I don't know if it's harder for the readers, who can't wait to see what happens next, or for me, knowing what's going to happen and can't wait to get it all revealed!

Have you ever read/watch something and gone crazy with speculation for a full day wanting answers? Even worse, doing so while at work? As a writer myself I feel like the curiosity's much worse for the readers.

The tail expresses his creeped-outed-ness more than his face. Is Salia trying to sweet-talk Kass? 'Cause that's what that looks like. Scandal! Or is it just that everyone in Val Salia has a crush on male Kassen, and Salia is just imagining his usual face? They'll all be so disappointed to learn that he's already got his eye on somebody...

I do admit to being influenced by ASoIAF in that every character is a main character in their own right, with their own stories and perspectives, goals and challenges... even though Kass definitely has the spotlight here and now.
And while there's no murders going on in these pages, that doesn't mean there's a lotta murders happening all over Val Salia off-panel!
Seriously, like 7 people got shanked, beaten to death or eaten in the 24 hour period since the comic began.

I love how everyone is focusing on the plotting and the spying, but no one is thinking about the fact that there is something called "The Traveling Moon" that is coinciding with the discovery of strange artifacts.

Well, you certainly wouldn't want to have to give birth if you were in an area affected by the tidal shifts when the moon comes by, that's for sure. Unless you've already got your living space on stilts and whatnot.

Hey now, there are some conspiracies on the side of goodness and progress too, right? Like how do we know that Abraham Lincoln wasn't assassinated because he had been mind-controlled by the lizard people after the war and would have soon enacted the slavery of all mankind?

It has occurred to me, given Kass' fine overlord's eye colour, that he's a former Yinglet himself. This will either be discarded as wild guesswork, or show me to be a prophet in due time.

Ha ha I'm lovin' this line of comments. A couple earlier speculations have been correct, so you never know! Keep paying attention and theorizing, because I love subtly hinting at larger things, so that during the second read-through, people are all like "Heyyy, -X- is totally a tip-off to -Y- that happens in -Z- comic!"

ShadowDevill In reply to Sphore [2014-10-02 04:03:12 +0000 UTC]
D: Yes I did not notice this about his eyes until I read your comment. Then again, this is a weird world and it doesn't seem that unreasonable that there could be other funky eye colors, given they use giant beetles like oxen. Or, it could be the effects of a DIFFERENT one of the strange "artifacts" that the ringlets dig up, and Salia has some creepy superpower/curse that we've yet to discover. Seeing his personality so far, I have a feeling it has something to do with eating souls, catching things on fire, bathing in the blood of virgins, and/or giving everyone he looks at goosebumps. …I have joined you in the field of wild guesswork.

In a Twilight Zone twist to the story, it turns out the real monster the whole time was Kass!

Sphore In reply to ShadowDevill [2014-10-02 07:11:18 +0000 UTC]
Well, given that this is a fantasy setting, we're dealing with the field of ARBITRARY SKEPTICISM (tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php… and must proceed with caution.
Giant worm caves, a bizarrely large number of sentient species who have relatively similar body plans, arthropods several orders of magnitude than should be physically possible in a world with Earth's own gravity and atmospheric composition... these things are accepted, but transmogrification is not?
Something is afoot! Put on your tinfoil hats!

Valsalia In reply to Sphore [2014-10-02 16:11:53 +0000 UTC]
Eyup, you could be onto something, especially how all the sentient species seem to share a number of physical traits... you'll just have to keep reading for another 172 comics to find out!
Or maybe two comics. A lot's getting revealed right now.
