I LOVE these images. They are so *photographic*!
What I mean by that is they are not something a painter (historically) would ever do. Before there was modern photography, this sort of artistic image did not exist. I really enjoy photography that is rooted in what photography, and only photography, can do.
Not to knock a good landscape photo or whatever. But images like this are what photography is all about, IMHO.

I know exactly what you mean and I totally agree that photography is not a different way of painting or drawing, but an independent artistic mode of expression.
Henri Cartier-Bresson, a photographer and painter, once said: "I paint what I cannot photograph and I photograph what I cannot paint."
