Description
First and foremost I have to say my first anime love affair with Ranma dates back to when I was a little child. My brother and I watched this anime together growing up and I loved how funny and adorable the chemistry between all the characters had together. I would love to dedicate this to my Mom since she bought us the VHS tape when it came out in Suncoast. Does anyone remember that store?

That takes me back...
There were never that many Suncoast locations in the US but they generally had them in towns that had over 200,000 people.
They were part of the Musicland/Sam Goody group. This was back when they still had these quaint little chain stores known as "record stores."
There was more than one factor in the downfall of these stores but it generally was people's tastes and the way they bought things (re: ONLINE, heavily discounted) made the mall/chain store more difficult to support at the retail/brick-and-mortar level. Same thing happened to Borders Books. Management just didn't adapt to the realities of the changing marketplace/retail environment and they went the way of the dodo. I'm frankly surprised Barnes & Noble has lasted as long as it has. It's the last major book chainstore. (I really don't count Books A Million. That chain has never been half as good as Borders or Barnes & Noble.)
The thing is when Suncoast went down, it wasn't just those locations that closed. It was part of the Musicland conglomeration so Sam Goody and Musicland in addition to Media Play went down as well. ALL the Media Play locations closed down in 2007(?). Suncoast chugged along for a few more months but most of those closed as well. SOME of the Musicland and Sam Goody locations were revamped and reopened as FYE branches when FYE absorbed at last part of the Musicland chain stores but I believe most of the stores that were closed remained closed and even then they've closed stores since. There's only one FYE store left in my area and it's a sad, sad reminder of those other stores and the last few times I went in I wasn't that impressed by it. It's kind of shabby and the selection isn't as good as it was a few years back...
It's only a matter time and that place will probably close, too.

Ah, Suncoast Video! My introduction to the wide and wonderful world of anime in general and Ranma 1/2 in particular when all they'd show on SciFi was Akira or Demon City Shinjuku. I remember it well. Your mother sounds pretty awesome! My parents just shook their heads sadly while watching me blow all my lawn-mowing money on 'more dumb foreign cartoons'.

awwww, this is precious and Yeah we used to have 3 suncoast stores here in Alabama, then they changed to sam goody , then to f.y.e. then to coconuts and then they finally shut down a few years ago.

OMG! So many blast from the past in this post! Ranma, my SECOND favorite from Rumiko Takahashi (Maison Ikkoku for life!) and the mention of SUNCOAST! Wow! Haven't heard that name in a LONG time. Memories! Great cosplay, love it!

I used to watch this when I was stationed in Okinawa. Loved it dearly and still do (it was nice to see it subbed years later by Viz Video at the Suncoast in the Redlands Mall in California). Excellent cosplay of girl Ranma, good memories

This costume's colors definitely defines Ranma's clothing. Both the wig & Umbrella suits you nicely. And that background image really supports the mood (and your pose) of this picture here.
