I love this so much, I looked at the bios of Edd's parents.Β
Honestly, his mom sounds like a hoot and a half (WE SHALL HAVE PEARS!), and she's obviously a loving mother. I always thought that it was interesting that there were so many sticky notes, I mean, Edd could open a drawer and find one asking him to empty the dishwasher or something with the classicΒ Β MOM at the bottom. I thought it seemed almost like fun, you could run around and see how many you could find. I mean, the chore part would suck, but the looking for them would be fun, it would be like you were playing with your parents while they weren't even home without needing any technology. Also I thought it was sweet that each one would say love mom or love dad at the bottom.

This comic is really sweet, but I think it would be very sad to have parents that are NEVER around... Think about it- When has Double D ever interacted with his parents? Yes, I know they have sort of a Peanuts spin and never show adults...
(Or vehicles for that matter, what the fuck? These children are home alone constantly I guess XD ..Or the artists were too lazy to draw cars in their garages/driveways...) but Ed at least mensions his parents sometimes, with Double D always finding slips of paper asking him to do stuff. Like he owns the fucking house. It seems he comunicates with his mom and dad only through sticky notes.
He must feel so alone... That's a reason why I hate it when he cries... I wanna hug him ;3; ~β€ I feel like there are some things he doesn't tell the others...
I started an eene fic... But I dunno if I'm gonna do much else with it...Β

They'd have to be around sometime though, after all, how could they write him more sticky notes if their never home? They wouldn't be writing them let alone know something needed to be done. Although I have to agree with you, it would totally suck if one parents were never around, going home to an empty home all the time, ( hugs double-d) poor baby...

Maybe they just pop in for like 5 secs.. Somehow find 50 chores that need to be done, when Double D is a neat-freak anyway.. It's a wonder why the house needs cleaning? XD He labels things for heaven's sake... Ok, off-topic... But, yeah. His parents do love him~ I'm not doubting that.. But if they're so busy, why have a kid? Maybe they really do try, maybe it's not their fault, but Edd's being left all alone to raise himself D=

All of your work is fantastic, but I'd say this is my favorite.
There's no dark twist theory on the sticky notes, or negative response from Edd. The realistic reaction to his mother leaving is heart-wrenching, as his parent's busyness stretches into the show, but the positive contrast does as well. Yes, it's unfortunate his parents are busy, but this doesn't mean Edd is insane or hateful, or that his parents don't love him. Edd is perfectly reasonable and considerate when it comes to his parent's time management, and seems to not only appreciate but feel excitement about the sticky notes they spend part of that time making for him.
Unlike many somewhat interesting but mostly depressing, non-canon and disturbing theories, your depiction of the sticky note initiation is, in my opinion, perfect.
Maybe I'm looking too far into it? Nevertheless, I seriously love this piece.

It's easy to go to the depressing side of the story, and we've all seen the "for my birthday I want you to come home"-drawings, but the way Edd talks about his parents, and the things he and the series mentions they do for him, really don't support these images. They're gone most of the day; but never has been said they're neglecting him, or Edd is even slightly sad about their absence.
Since I like sad and depressing stories, I expected of myself to join the majority on this. But I knew on time the whole drama didn't make sense. Edd once mentioned his parents massage his feet with oil every night. That is some extreme child care right there.
