Description
For Halloween 2010 I decided to fulfill a seventeen-year-old dream to be Billy the Blue Power Ranger from the original Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. I am totally in love with this costume.Thanks to ~Wolfbites for taking this shot!

Ahahahaha, yes. YOU AND ME BOTH, BUDDY. Well, okay, I didn't get into Power Rangers until '94, but I've wanted to be him since then. XD AND FINALLY I DID. AND IT FEELS AWESOME MAN, LET ME TELL YOU. And who knew that running around in spandex is a great way to pick up chicks? Ahahaa.

Wow, you can pick up chicks even dressed as a geeky early 90's kid's show character? I'm amazed...must be your own epicness, my friend, exuding itself through your spandex.
My sister is quite a good seamstress (she should be, since she's a fashion major and everything...) and she could make a good Blue Ranger outfit for me no sweat. The problem is that I don't have the helmet, and having the helmet first is important, because if I buy the spandex and it doesn't quite match the helmet, well...that would just look weird.
Where did you get your helmet and how much was it? If only I had the helmet, I could finally do it too!

My helmet and suit don't actually match 100% but they look great when photographed. I'm not sure how it works like that, but it does. The helmets are all custom made and can really vary in price. I joined www.rangerboard.com and got mine from a seller named Aniki, who sold me the whole costume. (Boots, belt and gloves are genuine leather, and it came with the morpher belt and a hood to wear under the helmet.) I've seen helmets ranging from $150 for an unfinished kit (that you can sand, cut, paint and put hinges in yourself), up to $1000 for really fantastic ones cast from original show-helmets and so forth. Mine was $325, if I'm not mistaken, but I've seen some other pretty nice Blue Ranger ones for $250ish. If you stalk Rangerboard for a while, you might find a deal. A LOT of guys are having to sell their stuff due to the economy. I saw a $400 (Lightspeed rescue) helmet go for $150 just the other day. The only other problem is that Blue is a bit rarer than Red or Green, so it might be harder to find. Also, the helmets are all ONE SIZE FITS ALL so you definitely want to make sure your head will fit before you order it. A lot of people order them and discover they can't wear them. (And that's another reason you can get some deals on helmets.)

Yeah, nowadays finding a Blue Ranger helmet/costume is pretty much the opposite of when I was a kid; for Halloween, all the Red and Green Ranger costumes would be sold out, but there would be PLENTY of Blue Ranger costumes at the Party City! Nowadays it's HARD to find Blue Ranger helmets, because there isn't any demand.

Oh damn, the red Lightspeed Rescue helmet? Lightspeed Red was the only Red Ranger I actually thought was cool, lol. He just seemed like a really nice guy.

Yeah, Billy was always my absolute favorite. I didn't dislike Jason originally, but I didn't care about him. I hated Tommy, hahahahaa. I like them all now (I've been rewatching the series!) and I appreciate Jason a lot more this time, but Billy's still the best one to me.

That's funny, because I've dug out my old MMPR tapes and I've started watching them, too! What format are you watching them on? I wish they released all three MMPR seasons on DVD...hell, "Lightspeed Rescue" and "Time Force" as well!
Jason's not bad, but I always disliked him as a kid because everyone else thought that he was just the coolest shit around, lol. Billy is the most interesting character possibly in PR history, since he had the widest character arc and really changed the most.

I've just found some avis, and pretty much episode episode is on YT so I'm watching there if I can't find them online elsewhere. Though I do have a lot of old episodes on tape, they're not in any order.
I feel similarly about Jason, and I was always so pissed about the Gold Ranger stuff. Saw you on the RB as MMPR Blue Ranger. Great name, hahaha. I'm just VanDonovan there. So unoriginal.

Breathing in the costume is hard. There are some air holes along the ridge under the visor/at the top of the silver mouth area, but mostly you just take deep slow breaths. XD
