Description
A commission for Eden! These are two of her angel characters, Hael (the gentleman with bluejay-patterned wings) and Uriel (the peacock-feathered one). I find it charming that Uriel is the shy one. ^^Looking at the feather references for this one, I was surprised at how interesting peacock and bluejay patterns really are. I guess sometimes you don't really see something properly until you set out to draw it!

Wing-drawing tips? Hmm... I like to get the overall shape of the wings figured out before I start drawing individual feathers, so that they look more solid and 3-dimensional. It's also useful to look at photos of real bird wings, and see how the different rows and layers of feathers are arranged. I found a lot of interesting detail in blue jay photos that I wouldn't have thought to add on my own.
It's been a couple years since I drew this, so I don't remember much else about the process, but I hope that helps.
