Description Decided to make a series of OCs based off of Greek Mythology, and I’m starting with Olympus’ resident drunkard—Dionysus

Name: Dionysus
Gender: Male
Age: Immortal
Tribe: SkyWings, with distant LeafWing ancestry

Powers/Abilities: Can grow, control, and summon different types of vines through Leafspeak, can induce and cure madness, can manipulate and summon alcohol, is immune to getting drunk. Can transform himself and other dragons into animals, and breathe purple fire.

History: Dionysus was the product of an affair between his father, Zeus, and a SkyWing with LeafWing lineage, named Semele. Zeus’s wife, Hera, got jealous, and indirectly caused Zeus to kill Semele when he revealed his true form to her, vaporizing her instantly. Fortunately, Zeus managed to save Semele’s unhatched egg and by extension, the dragonet inside, by sewing it into his thigh.

Once he hatched, Dionysus was given to a family of SkyWings who raised him until Hera found out who he was and drove his adoptive family insane. Dionysus was only spared because he was turned into a goat by Zeus for a brief period of time. He was then raised by a group of LeafWings for the rest of his dragonethood.

When he grew up, he discovered the grapevine and extracted the juice, only to be struck mad by Hera a few minutes later, since she still held a grudge against him. Afterwards, he wandered through Pyrrhia, and was eventually found by his paternal grandmother Rhea, who cured him, and taught him her religious rites. Dionysus then set off, teaching other dragons how to cultivate the grapevines.

He was later invited to live on Olympus with the rest of the gods, and his paternal aunt, Hestia, gave up her throne so as to avoid any conflict or embarrassment.

He would go on to form a group of dragons from all tribes, letting them travel with him and party. His most fanatical followers became known as the Maenads. While traveling, he ended up recruiting several members of the Amazons, a group of female dragons of various tribes who had gotten fed up with their respective societies. When their leader, a RainWing named Otrera, heard the news, she became enraged and led her remaining warriors in a fight against Dionysus and his ragtag group of generally drunk, ragtag followers.

Dionysus and his followers easily defeated the Amazons, chasing them all the way to the Diamond Spray Delta, where they gave up the chase for unknown reasons.

One day, while flying around the island of Naxos(which he’d become the guardian of by unknown means), Dionysus happened upon a beautiful female MudWing named Ariadne, who was sitting on the shore, looking dejectedly out to sea. He cheered her up by cracking a few bad jokes, and eventually married her. When she died, Zeus made her immortal at Dionysus’ request.

Once, he was captured by a group of pirates, who thought he was a prince, and tried to kidnap him either to sell him into slavery or for ransom. No ropes would hold him to the pole they kept trying to tie him to. Dionysus shape-shifted into a huge lion and released a bear on board, which attacked several of the pirates. The ones that jumped overboard were transformed into dolphins as an act of mercy. The only one to survive was the helmsman, a SeaWing named Acoetes, who had recognized Dionysus as a god and tried to warn his fellow crew members beforehand.

He would later be the one of the gods who tried(and the only one who succeeded) to talk Hephaestus into freeing Hera from her throne prison after Hera got trapped in it. After both Ares and Hermes failed to convince the blacksmith god to release his mother, Dionysus decided to take matters into his own talons. He began stopping by Hephaestus’ forge and chatting with him, even though Hephaestus tried to ignore him the first few times. After a few weeks, the two gods became friends, and a week later, Dionysus introduced Hephaestus to wine, getting him thoroughly drunk before asking him to free Hera. Hephaestus agreed, and, once back on Olympus, forgave his mother.

Dionysus would go on to father several dragonets.
