Description In my ongoing quest to learn watercolour, I forced myself to do some at FC2011 for people's commissions instead of marker. I had no idea what the hell I was doing with this, just got the paint and pressed go, and it's certainly the best piece I have ever done with the medium! I used my rigger brush for the branches and felt like a real artist man.

An awesome pic! I wonder if I might feature this on a wiki website I work on, Warriors of Myth? This would make an excellent Weredingo!

Wow! This looks like you've been using watercolor for a long time! That one tree in the middle kinda interferes with the figure's paws a little, but not too bad.

In your quest to learn watercolour?!

My goodness - are you serious? If this is really you learning, I wonder what you will paint once you reached your quests goal.

As for now: I love it. I'm usually not a big fan of yellow, but the tone works here beautifully, the theme is unusual yet compelling... Great work.

Thank you! I started to teach myself the medium this last fall and so far it's been up and down; mostly downs. ;3

It's really good! The vanishings-fading of the posterior trees gives the piece a really interesting focus. That, the detail and the colours make it a winner illustration!

Viva real artistry feelings!

Did you find that it was faster than using the markers? What were the advantages/disadvantages of the swap?

I'd say that you're really getting the hang of it. You certainly did a fantastic job with the lighting and then the textures on the wood.

i heard bristol again.. muwahahaa...
but seriously, it turned out farking awesome. i love the subtle purples, the control and detail on the subject, but the slow fading into more artistic and loose strokes as the image radiates out.
good job, lady. :}
