Description First batch of heraldic style ACEOs I did.

I've always loved the heraldic style. I love the energy and the contortions of the anatomy and the curls and flow of the designs. I've been meaning to delve into the style for a while now and I finally remembered to borrow a book on the subject. Using the beautiful illustrations in the book for inspirations and proper poses, I drew a few of my favorite animals. I did my best to infuse these guys with my own realistic style while leaving in some of the more heraldic characteristics.

These are all inked with Microns pens while fulll of liberating amounts of coffee and tea. Oh, and they are on ebay, if you want one! [link]

Truly awesome. I love this style, mostly because it reminds me of the knights of the Middle Ages. That is my favorite time period.

Howdy! I am all for people going for originality in artwork, so I'd say go look at the traditional heraldic lions here: [link] mixed with eagles: [link] and elsewhere like in books. These are a blend of my own realistic animal anatomy and there are flaws you wouldn't want to show up in your own work!

No worries. I know what you mean about orginality so I was going to use yours more for reference. I was going to use those sources as reference as well. I have found a lot of stuff via google so I will get round to creating mine.

I have no idea how I haven't seen this before but that is, hands-down, THE BEST heraldic winged wolf I have ever seen! And I've looked for a lot. I would love a larger version!

Wow, I've always wanted to do work like this, but I've never been brave enough to try. Maybe I will, once I get some of my other projects out of the way. These are simply too awesome.

Heraldry is wonderful!

Would you be able to recommend any books? (I'm struggling to illustrate heraldic images for my story).

As always, your inking is marvellous.

too bad the lion isn't also sticking his tongue out, it's my favourite part of all heraldic animals. So cute/ferocious! This is really successful as a style exercise.
