Description ([link] is the file.)

Last thing to push out for my 3D model revamp project was a lame-butt "animation" of a set of models, in this case my Mewthree, Mewblade and her enhanced Chaos self (this would have been done earlier, but lacked the video compilation program I needed). I wasn't trying to make them move much, wasn't going for anything flashy, and the background scene was more painful to render than make as it's basically a giant, overgrown shader. Really just wanted a more interesting version of a character rotation.
The music of choice is the OCRemix version of Donkey Kong Country 2's "Kannon's Klaim/Mines", known as "From Within". And yes, I am aware of the graphical glitches and such and I'm not fixing them. This was more like an example of boredom than anything else.

Click this [link] to download the WMV file, which is 4.23 mb in size. Could go with the FLV version which was smaller, but talk about quality kill. The file itself comes off of my "The Northern Pacific" webpage and is virus-free.

Maya 7.0, Photoshop CS3, Premiere Elements 8

Depending on the version of IE or Firefox, it looks like it either downloads it, or auto-runs and then buffers. In which case for the latter it would stream. No idea if my web hosting allows multiple downloads at the same time, or streaming (my bandwidth limit is really high, so it shouldn't be an issue) but with files and the like there will always be someone who encounters a problem because of how they open it, what it's opened with, and possibly if there was a lot of activity going on during the downloading. Unfortunately it was Psylady who encountered the problem. Glad it worked well for you, and thank you for the compliment.

It's your player. WMV file, which will play in Windows Media Player. This version is made for WMP9, so anything lower and it might do weird things.

So okay, after downloading it, it worked for the player, maybe mozilla freaked out.

Its pretty detailed, i like how you did the shading on Mewblades body you even added the reflection on her blade. They don't move much, but Chaos' grin sure creeps me out. actually i cannot say much about this; absolutly don't have a clue about this 3D stuff. but impressive it is.

I don't have Firefox on the computers at home, or on the ones I use at work, so I was never able to check on finicky it might be on that internet browser.

The shading and reflections and so forth are done based on what the 3D environment and their texture maps tells them to show. In Maya I used an Ambient light (adds a light to everything, regardless of what is in the way of it), and some sort of Spotlight. I probably could have told the lights to render smoother shadows. Reflections work as they are because those parts of their bodies are told to reflect back to a certain extent. Most of my shiny characters have a texture map that instructs certain parts of their bodies to be more or less reflective. It's why Mewblade's titanium reflects, and her body does not.

My animation was basically a glorified character rotation/camera pan. Chaos' grin was basically the only thing I really wanted out of this. I hate animating characters since it takes way too much time for something like these two and their odd 40-60 something bones (stupid tails). I'll eventually get more into the habit of actually animating my characters, but haven't really had the time or motivation to do it.
