I painted this portrait in late August for the Art Instruction Schools annual art competition and I got it back yesterday. I won second place and $100. Since Spook died, I've been very anxious to get this painting back. When I painted it, Spook was still alive, but when he passed away, I deeply wanted this painting back.

I used heavy body arcylic paint and 16x20 canvas.

For the painting, I wanted to show Spook when his fur is at its most brillant, during a sunset. I took a picture of him one afternoon and it was the best photograph I ever got of him. The colors do not mean Germany or anything like that, I chose those colors because that is what Spook's fur looks like when the color in a photo is in full contrast.
