I remember the first time I played II, I was so puzzled by all the civilians wandering around... I kept trying to figure out if I was supposed to talk to them or what (because previously in all the games I'd played, you were supposed to talk to everyone you saw). So I tried going right up to them and pressing various buttons to see what happened... when they started running away I was like 'wtf??' and spent a little while chasing them to see if they were going anywhere before realizing they weren't and punching them again (whereupon they died).

But the women have the best screams.
I found out almost right away you weren't supposed to kill people, though. When I got out of the fortress, I walked right up to someone and pushed square. I don't remember if I meant to punch them, but I did. Then I did it again for fun, and suddenly the alarm went off and I got killed. XD
One thing I've noticed while playing Jak II, though, is that women are never driving. It's always men when you steal the zoomers.

...And I think you probably just punched them while in the line of sight of a KG-- if their red beacon on the map is pointing towards you, you can't get away with things that you could do otherwise with no KG around. It's one of the fun quirks of the game. I've never had the alarm go off just from punching a civilian. XD (Though bump into them on the hoverboard anywhere, and you'd better get ready to run)

Punching them once does nothing, but if you punch them twice and kill them it sets off the alarm. And yes, I know about the hoverboard thing. It's not my fault the damn people don't know how to duck! How does that suddenly make me more of a criminal than punching them or stealing their vehicles?

Hmmm.... I have vague recollections of killing civilians before without setting off the alarm, but it's been awhile since I played so if you just tested it out I'll take your word for it. XD
....And some of them do duck! It's the lazy ones who don't that are bothersome. Them, and the people who hang out right in front of the rings during ring races. I mean seriously. SERIOUSLY. What did they think was going to happen?

During the race with Erol, I laughed so hard at the people who didn't get out of the way. I'm glad they didn't slow me down, though, or I never would have beaten that crazy ginger.

Best part of the whole damn game: ignoring the missions, jacking zoomers, shooting up/mowing down pedestrians, and running away from the Krimson Guard, possibly getting the crap blown out of you in the process.

Yessss XD The zoomers used to terrify me when I first played II (because I always seemed to run them into KG vehicles unwittingly, and I didn't know how to escape the alerts yet), but they turned into my favourite section.

(Those things were kinda funny in that they're SO MUCH FUN TO STEAL and yet... not at all, at the same time. They steer like goddamn cows.)

The steering might be terrible, but they can take a lot of hits. And hey, unlimited bullets too, heh.

Unfortunately, all those hits tend to get used up really quickly when you combine every other KG unit in the area shooting at you with the continual ramming into walls. ):

Y'know, sometimes I've seen some KG zoomers (the smaller one seaters, at least) just... parked and unoccupied. Meaning you didn't have to shove some guard off his zoomer to use it~! lol I can't remember if it was the second or third game though. XD

It was probably the second-- I remember a couple of times while I was playing that game, the zoomer outside of the Underground's secret entrance was a KG bike. XD
Maaaan that game was so fun. XD I gotta replay it again sometime soon....
