I'd actually drawn this ages ago - before 'The Return' aired and we learned that the Gem big-wig (or at least ONE of them) was called 'Yellow Diamond'. Because I was so close to finishing it only to have my head-canon smashed so thoroughly I just left it undone and went away pouting But now I'm over it so I figured, why not?

We don't know what Yellow Diamond is going to be like personality-wise but I'd hoped the Gem Boss wouldn't be as crazy, lip-licking evil as Jasper or even Peridot. Instead she's more 'aloof'; it's not like she even 'hates' humans as much as she doesn't even seem to really 'register' them as anything higher than any of Earth's other 'fauna', and she would cut them down just as dispassionately as an jungle explorer cleaving through the brush.

The 'Mother Superior' look is intentional; she has a VERY elevated view of herself and sees her arm as the most beautiful part of her appearance. Her station is such that if she ever had to set foot on Earth personally she'd likely run her claw straight through Peridot's head while she was licking-boot and bragging at Steven and the gang about how doomed they surely were (likely we'd only see the shadow of this act looming over the mortified heroes), then after Perdiot were poofed, she would crush her gem to dust in her bare hand and scatter it to the wind.

Then, with the expression above and a warm, motherly tone she'd look down and say, "Oh, you must be Steven!"

Like a BOSS.
