Although Motherboard is called the "ruler" of cyberspace, aside from a couple of episodes where's she's invited some of the big-wigs for a discussion, we never really see her "running" anything.

What I mean is that no one in Cyberspace seems like they actually have to "answer" to Motherboard or Marbles; Control Central doesn't really pass laws or decrees or sentences (except that one time against Hacker) - yet somehow, they're "in charge" and every site just respects them - and I always wondered why. Why is "Control Central" so important to the citizens of Cyberspace when neither it nor its crew really to seem to "control" anything?

It was that question - in conjunction with the aesthetic of Cyberspace (those ribbons and "nebula" of binary code that often we see flowing through space in the background) - as well as Hacker's obsession with "Chaos" and the idea that destroying Motherboard will lead to it (despite, again, the fact that Cyberspace seems to govern itself just fine ) that led me to conceive of this story point and maybe even to start all of this to begin with; I had a lot of questions about Cyber-society while watching the show when I was younger and I started writing stories in my head to answer them. Then at some point I just said, "Hey, why don't I draw these? Maybe people might like it."

And hey, maybe you do.
