Description Descendants of the Ancestors, predecessors to the Space Bunny species: The Ancestrals.

Aptly nicknamed Sea Bunnies, there are only nine Ancestrals.
Each is well equipped to various climates and the water. They have membranes between all fingers and thumbs (both hands) for manoeuvrability in the water, as well as speed. The knees have special water membranes as well. This also helps with movement in water.
Their mane/hair seems to be very thick and heavy, yet the opposite is true; The reasonably thin hair is covered in a special substance making it seem thick, full and vivid. This also prevents the hair to absorb water and create a heavy weight on the Ancestral's heads. (The substance is also plainly known as grease in our language.) Yet when one would touch the hair, it would not feel greasy. Rather, it would feel extremely soft. This is due to the special substance of the grease, giving it a velvety feel.
Scales run from their chest until the tip of their tail, offering protection to some very vital organs.
The long tail is often used for balance, on land and in water. Besides balance, it also provides another way to steer and move properly and quickly in water.
Digitigrade legs provide a lot of strength and stability as well and are very good for long runs and short fast sprints. They can reach up to speeds of approx. 88 mph (~ 141 km/h).
The hooves are used for grip during running, climbing, and underwater to hold onto thick and sturdy water plants in order to stay in place.
The hands have retractable claws. These claws are used for fighting, but mostly for burrowing/digging, and for more activities which claws are needed for in order to work refined and detailed.

Every Ancestral has two differently coloured spikes on the tip of their tails. Each spike has a vibrant colour, portraying what type of poison or toxic it produces. The more vibrant the colour, the stronger the effect it has on the one stung by it. Ancestrals are immune to their own spikes, as well as of any other.
Red: Gives the victim the feeling they are burning. In severe cases the skin actually starts to burn and the victim -when touched- will feel red-hot.
Orange: Controlled telepathy. The victim will be able to hear the Ancestral speaking to them and controlling their mind and thought-processes.
Yellow: Paralyses the victim. In severe cases the victim creates static electricity (and thus can harm -annoyingly- others near them).
Green: Acidic solution. In minor cases only a small area is affected. In severe cases the acid will destroy the whole victim (a.k.a. "OMG, I'M MELTING!").
Blue: Victim will feel a drowning sensation. This is due to the lungs slowly filling up with more and more water. In minor cases the victim just needs to cough to remove the extra bit of water.
Purple: Controlled telekinesis. The victim will not be able to control their own movement, as the Ancestral has taken over that job.
White: The victim will feel as if they are very cold. This can numb the feeling in various limbs or the entire body. In severe cases the whole victim is frozen.

Each Ancestral represents a certain aspect of the universe. From elements to space and time itself.
This Ancestral, shown here, is named Solus Zelt and represents: Wisdom, art, originality, the mind.
Solus Zelt forms a symbolic triplet with two other Ancestrals. The triplets together represent birth, life, and death. The progress of creation.

Overall

Vision

Originality

Technique

Impact

This is a really interesting piece with attention to detail.

What I like about this is that your eye is forced to the center of the piece, moving from the the glow to the character. The colors are very muted, except for the glowing parts like the green orbs and appendages on the sea bunny. So what I'm seeing here is a very well thought out piece and colors that are easy on the eyes, allowing you to glance at every detail with ease.

What I would like to see is more of is more shading and depth to his fur. While there is plenty lines to suggest he has fur, there is not a whole lot of shadows and highlights going on to show off the illuminating effects of the green light. It would be much more efficacious if you shown the green light permeating throughout the surface areas of his fur. For instance; there would be green light showing on the top of his right arm and the very edge of the bottom part of his forearm(our left) as well as green reflecting on top of his head and snout. While I think I see an ever so slight cast of green on some of his fur, it seems like it is just too subtle for what brightness the green light is casting.

The shadows you did on the scales are absolutely perfect. What contrast I there I would like to see on the fur in regards to shadows and lights, and you can do that without compensating the piece by using low opacity brushes.

The next thing I'd like to suggest is more shadows. While I see a slight shadow in his left (our right) arm, at least right under it I think you could get away with making the shadow more prominent. You can use either use a low opacity brush that is dark red-brown., purple or blue. This would help bring out the form of your character.

The anatomy of this piece pretty much almost on point. The size ratio between the torso, legs and arms and head is very well done. I would like to address that the legs need some work in terms of placement. I've only seen this issue after taking a good long look at this piece.

What you can do: If you struggle with a pose and can't place the legs anywhere, try taking a picture of yourself or a friend and have them pose that way. If I try to pose like that I don't think my leg could bend forward without it planted in the ground at a near 90 degree angle. So his right leg (our left) would make more sense if he had the calf bent towards him a little more.

As far as the other leg I can tell you may have not really wanted to draw it, good trick, but I think at that pose it would make more sense if his knee/thigh came a little forward and the tail moved up in line with the bottom of the right foot. The tail should be getting a little thicker to show perspective.

The neck would also be a little longer, but I'm not sure if that is part of the character design, but it's really not that noticeable unless you look at this for a long time.

Overall, this is a very digital painting. I really enjoy the colors and the background is really painterly. It looks like you put a lot of effort into this piece and I'd like to see more like this or similar.

Oh my goodness, I just want to say thank you for taking your time to critique so fully on the drawing, I appreciate it a lot ^-^

So more glow/reflection on fur of the light, I agree! Perhaps indeed I did it too subtle, and I shouldn't be afraid to use more of the light.
And more shadow on the fur, like with the scales, or at least have the fur and scales in a more similar style to each other.

I think indeed the leg giving the most issue would be the character's right leg (our left), I feel something there might be causing a weird perspective. So I think if I would draw this again, I would have to adjust especially the upper leg part with regards to also how I shade/highlight it to change perspective view, what do you think?
And thanks for the tip! I've been definitely looking more into taking photographs for poses I have difficulty with

It's not as much as I did not want to draw the whole leg, as I needed to find a way to place the tail somewhere. I thought putting it in front of one of the legs would break a bit the picture and create some sort of perspective, I will surely keep this in mind for future drawings with tails. I often feel tails are a subject which often feel they are easily in the way. Heh.
Yeah, tail thickness is a problem I sometimes come across, thanks for pointing that out x3

Thank you once again for taking your time with this critique and looking so detailed at it. All of what you said I can see back in the drawing, the good and bad points. It's commentary like this can I work on to improve my drawings, and I really appreciate the effort, thank you

I am currently working on a similar styled-piece with a detailed background, so I'm currently taking some of these points into consideration already ^^

Thank you!

(PS: Apologies I forgot to reply for so long D: )

You are quite welcome, I'm glad you enjoyed the critique! I would say if you redraw this again, and you use the same glow/coloration be mindful of surface reflection. Whichever surface on the body is closest to the light is what the light will reflect off of.

Another website that is useful is called artists.pixelovely.com/ where you can practice drawing from human figures!

Not a problem and I'm glad I was of help. If you want, you can show me the WIP/sketch stage so I can offer some guiding.

And no issue there, I understand.

Of course! It was worked out well and gave some good points :3
Yeah, I like glows and stuff, so I could totally see how I can get better at that ^^

Oh, thanks for the link. I appreciate the help!

And I also appreciate you would like to continue to offer help and critique. I am working on one drawing in particular based on the same style, and I have one thing I would like help with, so I can send through the line-art in a note or something if you're still up for it?

Hey, sorry it's been taking a while D:
I took a lot of time to finish up the drawing anyways >_>  (I kind of forgot I would and could ask for critique :S )
I finished the piece, it's called Solitude. If you could, I would like it if you dropped by and offered some critique ^-^ I don't have a premium membership any longer, but critiquing in the comment section would still be nice
