The Jersey Devil, sometimes called the Leeds Devil, is a legendary creature or cryptid said to inhabit the Pine Barrens in southern New Jersey. according to the legend Mother Leeds had 12 children and after given birth to her 12th child, she said if she had another, it would be the devil. In 1735, Mother Leeds was in labor on a stormy night. Gathered around her were her friends. Mother Leeds was supposedly a witch and the child's father was the devil himself. The child was born normal, but then changed form. It changed from a normal baby to a creature with hooves, a horses head, bat wings and a forked tail. It growled and screamed, then killed the midwife before flying up the chimney.El demonio de Jersey, es una criatura legendaria que se dice habita en al sur de Nueva Jersey.de acuerdo a la leyenda Madre Leeds tenia 12 hijos, y ella dijo que si tenia otro mas seria un demonio. Ella se embarazo de nuevo y entro en parto en una noche tormentosa, Leeds supuestamente era un bruja y el padre del niño el diablo, el niño nacio como un bebe normal pero poco despues muto en un ser con pezuñas, cabeza de caballo y alas de murcielago, rugio y chillo, mato a la partera y luego huyo por la chimenea.

I find this the best rendition of the age-old legend. The drawing is so detailed but seems to retain the feel of an old-fashioned woodcut. This never ceases to send chills down my spine, considering the organic like look to it. I love the thin, gritty skeletal appearance along with the muscles and wing tissue. The Leeds Devil lives in this drawing! God those eyes! Outstanding work! BRAVO!

Beautiful...just beautiful. You have officially turned me back to my five+ years of Cryptid reasearch...seriously, I spent over five years looking at footage and reading eyewitness accounts. At age 11 I realised, that I needed to get a life, it was worth it. Now...if I can find those websites again...Jersey Devil....hmm...ah!

The legend behind it is even creepier-
In the 1700's, a woman prayed that she would give birth to a "devil child." She finally got her wish, as she gave birth to a deformed baby.
I think something happened where the child was locked in a cellar, and grew an elongated head, wings and hooves. So far, there have been sightings of the Jersey Devil for centuries, and PRS (Paranormal Research Society)have filmed what seemed to be a horse-like creature with wings.
Also, Destination Truth has also filmed what seemed to be a the Jersey Devil as well.
