I took photos/surfed the web for some kimono patterns (I only used the ones that gave free use to all)
The texture was actually really easy!

I duplicated each color layer in Photoshop and applied a Vertical Grain texture to the topmost layer. Then, I either screened or overlayed the grainy layer over the original colored layer to soften the effects.

I'm glad you like it! I plan to make a whole lot more art like this.

I realized that in order to make it look like it came from a manga, I needed to give it a papery texture... so I played around with some texture options in photoshop. I'm actually really glad it came out looking alright.

You're absolutely right - this really is a leap from my usual style of drawing/coloring!
