Makes a strong statement based on suggestion, instead of being literal. Β I think that's the advantage of painting over photography. Β
One caution about that concerns controlling the suggestion. Β There are some strokes in the neck and upper chest that are highly suggestive of anatomy, though they don't comport with it. Β For example, there are two areas on the near side of the neck, both of which look as if they could mark a sterno-cleido mastoid (SCM) muscle, though neither establishes the angle necessary to make the suggestion convincing. That is, the origin and insertion of the muscle is off, and so the anatomical rhythm and transitions in the area conflict with what the eye expects.
The muscle extends between the mastoid process on the cranium just behind the hear and the inner head of the clavicle; the angle between those points is steeper than what's been suggested. Β in this pose it would be nearly straight up and down.
With such a fluffy hair-do it seems her forehead could use added measure. Β
