They were old enough. They didnt need her. Verose was an excellent guardian for her, they would be able to handle the two hatchlings now that they were less dependent on an adult.

Her wandering heart couldn't remain sedentary any longer. She had heard of many lost loved ones through the grape vine, enough that she was itching to get back to hunting them down to bring them home. She had sorely missed her work, sorely missed open skies and exploring communities.

It was high time.

It seemed fitting, as the others in the den had bedded down for the night, that the moon was high and full- as it was the night she came home. She stretched her wings as she stepped from the den, her satchel heavy of provisions for the next few days, a leather waterskin full and sloshing with every step.

She could hear Katski huff in his sleep as her spot next to them cooled. She silently sent a prayer to Indula to protect them as she began to take flight into the sky, breaking past the snow dusted trees and break the tree line.

Its not goodbye, she thought, just... See you later.

She just hoped they would forgive her if she returned.

Time would tell.
