First Appearance: Donkey Kong Country (Nintendo 1994)
Voice: Kevin Bayliss ; Katsumi Suzuki ; Eric Bauza
Donkey Kong's little buddy, who is never far behind during his adventures. He was the sidekick in the first game, but when DK was captured, Diddy and his girlfriend, Dixie Kong appeared to rescue him. Diddy is much more athletic than DK, and is also handy with a Peanut Popgun and Rocketbarrel Jetpack. Aside from adventures, he has appeared alongside DK in many of Mario's sporting events, and even his own spin-off, Diddy Kong Racing, where he helped Timber and friends stop the menacing Wizpig.

Glad to see Diddy join Smash even though I suck with him. Too bad Dixie ain't in as an Echo and they didn't work in that tag mechanic from the DKC games so they could fight as a team.

Maybe. But then again, guys like Daisy got the echo treatment despite having possible original moves. Plus you could make her neutral a bubblegum variant of his Peanut special, Side and Down B could be the same and like Chrom, her Up B could be taken from someone else like DK's.
Granted, I'd prefer a semi echo for her but like the idea of Shadow as a Sonic echo, I'll take whatever as long as she's in Smash. Even though she's a spirit and a Mii Hat at least.

Her ponytail is something that has to be part of her move set which is why her being unique is important, besides that the up b move would require new animation since her body is much different from DK.

Her ponytail animation isn't that different compared to DK's Up B and even then, her using Diddy's Smashes isn't too different. Granted a semi echo is better but other characters got the echo treatment despite argument over their uniqueness.

Well in my opinion it's better for her to be as semi clone like Isabelle, her ponytail is too important to be left out see they always reference with her.
I personally find echoes underwhelming, I'll take more assist trophies over them.

Like I said, I don't mind either though I too prefer the Semi route more. But again, other characters have interesting qualities that fans point but are pushed aside by developers.
And honestly, I like Echoes. Assists are cool but I'll gladly take the Echo route for certain fighters.

I hate to drag this further but for me an echo would give me nothing since I already primarily use Diddy as a main and it would make her superfluous to have.
It's either unique or semi clone for me, I also don't believe it fits her personality at all.
